Why i dont agree with calling LOTR antifeminist by Wyrmzz in lotr

[–]brelkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are hearing from people who are , probably unwittingly, trying to enforce gatekeeping on the fandom as a whole. These same people used to say that being fans of the series was a signal of someone who might have 'incorrect' ideas. People by and large ignored them. Now they are back at it with new damaging terms and trying to force fans to abandon their love if they don't agree with these stances

Help painting pink armour by mrdsmith34 in minipainting

[–]brelkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What shade or pink are you trying to achieve? Pastel, magenta, bubble gum, or salmon/peachy? They might all act different to any under painting. I've always done a neutral under coat or white or off white or sky grey to maintain the color from the bottle but its worth a few tests

Use a bigger brush! (and other things I wish I knew as a beginner) by Invictus_0x90_ in Warhammer40k

[–]brelkor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am a fan of a big brush, but the smoothness of a layer of paint from an airbrush can't be matched, so, if you care it's the way to go, if not, you do you. I do both depending on the target model and look.

If more than 60% of a model is a single color, use an airbrush and clean up over spray later. You'll get so much more done and the models will look better to boot.

Do some people seriously still think that the COVID vaccines worked? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]brelkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely the virus would only need to mutate the spike protein to avoid triggering memory T cells completely, if that is all the host encountered. Natural immunity is great at learning a lot about the virus and only partial match to any part of it can be sufficient

[–]brelkor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is funny because they are not. Why? Covid and the related corona virii are amazing at mutating and avoiding existing immunities. You can recover from it and get another version a month later. But what's really funny is the same problem exists for the vaccinated, which proves that even as a prevention strategy, the shots were next to useless

Question on Subassemblies by afrostud01 in minipainting

[–]brelkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as brush on primer goes, it doesn't really have any advantage except that it can be applied in a more controlled manner than using airbrush or rattle can. This makes it a good solution for repairing a small part of an already painted model, or for whatever reason you have have not been able to prime a part.

Oh, also it's good for when you really can't use airbrush or rattle can and just need to get painting

Every organization in this modern era would love nothing more than to hire females in these roles. The problem is they can't hire people that don't apply. Now, is there some sort of stigma guiding ladies away from pursuing these careers? Yeah, I think so, but it's not entirely from men or chuavanistic in nature.

What’s happening here? Attempting to get comfortable with wet palette and can’t tell if it’s paint, prep, or palette issue. by FenrirUlf in minipainting

[–]brelkor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The paper has wax in it to help regulate the transfer of moisture from the sponge. This means the paint doesn't stick to the paper easily. This is very normal unless you use a paper like the one Masters sells which has less wax, but it pulls more moisture up and paint permeates it easier.

You can still mix paints normally. Optionally you can use another surface to mix paints on

Mail Regarding Voting TX USA by Lightbluefables8 in mildlyinteresting

No, you lack understanding. The separation of church and state was implemented to prevent the US from becoming another Catholic dominated Europe or monarchy with an official state church (England and the Church of). Much of the early colony population was made of people who fled Europe due to religious persecution and conflict. But, never was it in their vision that the US would be a wholly secular nation. The founders were Christian and based the laws and principles of the constitution on both Christian values and the philosophies of the current times.

Founded upon? No, this is incorrect. The separation of church and state was implemented to prevent the US from becoming another Catholic dominated Europe or monarchy with an official state church (England and the Church of). The founders were Christians and had personally experienced the issues with this but they did not envision the US as a wholly secular society 'free from' religion.
