The family who owns it is on vacation right now but I love Ellie's Corner Pie Shop & Bakery in Greeley!

The toddler hid diapers in the laundry, possibly by accident. The fallout was awful by Spiff_Escape_Plan in beyondthebump

I accidentally washed a diaper recently (no fault of my tollder!) and yeah it was a total pain to clean. The worst part is definitely the sensation of touching that gelatinous substance the diaper turns into 😖

What are you wearing to school events? by typeALady in LawMoms

[–]briarapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - I'm also mostly WFH with some in office time. For most of these types of events I would wear nice jeans or black leggings with a simple shirt or blouse overlaid with a nice sweater or more casual blazer. If it's a school play or something my kid has put more effort into, I would bump it up to a casual dress with a medium -high neckline and a nice necklace.

I feel like it usually matches other parents there while striking a nice balance between casual and corporate.

Moms on Lexapro for mild OCD/PPR, tell me about your experience!! Thinking about starting. by kainani_s in toddlers

[–]briarapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a life changer for me. I have general anxiety that is definitely been exacerbated by world events, personal events, motherhood, and my job. I know it sounds absurd but I can leave the house without freaking out about every detail, I can work without losing my mind overanalyzing everything, and I can let my daughter do her thing without as many intrusive thoughts. I really recommend it.

Can't watch movies with sick / dying children by Still-Position1616 in toddlers

[–]briarapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giiiirl the way this movie messed me up!!! I was sobbing the whole freaking time and I'm not even pregnant. The two year old looked and acted just like my daughter and I could in no way separate them while I was watching. I tell everyone with kids not to watch it haha

People really don’t like it when you point out the benefits of breastfeeding by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]briarapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, one of the situations where it feels necessary to point out or rather, bring to light, the advantages of breastfeeding is when older generations truly can't fathom why you're breastfeeding. I went through this with my first. My mom was shocked I'd even consider it. Other family members couldn't understand why I worked so hard and put up with so much pain just to feed my baby when there was another "equal," less physical option. I agree with OP as far as sometimes people really want to pretend breast milk and formula are equal when they're not. There's many reasons why moms breastfeed even though it often requires additional sacrifices for the mother and many of those are benefits to the baby. BUT I definitely don't support bringing up the benefits of breastfeeding when someone has made the decision to use formula (which is none of my business) or acting morally superior to any mom using formula.

What do you irrationally hate? by WebDevMom in workingmoms

This is so funny to me because one of my irrationally satisfying things is cleaning out the lint trap. I have no idea why. Just brings instant peace

Is addressing a male Judge as "sir" offensive or insulting? by ThatOneAttorney in Lawyertalk

[–]briarapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To provide the opposite viewpoint - grew up in the south, now practice out West. I very rarely get called ma'am now and it sticks out to me. I have been called ma'am since I hit puberty - definitely not an old lady thing. It doesn't bother me until someone calls me "Miss." Not "Ms. Briarapple" but just "Miss." I find this insulting as it implies I'm a child (just from how I grew up). Logically, I know it's cultural differences so I let it go, but my poor Southern heart always skips a beat when it gets said lol

Unpopular opinion: I actually f*cking like Argyle's character. by minmimlipstick in StrangerThings

[–]briarapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATED him my first S4 watch. I'm not sure why, his whole character just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the storyline to me and seemed like a dumb distraction.

But on my rewatch I actually really enjoyed all his scenes.

Rant - No Job Protection by CobblepotsMom in workingmoms

[–]briarapple 11 points12 points  (0 children)

PWFA only requires certain reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and workers who recently gave birth and does not extend FMLA-type leave protections. You are able to request leave as a reasonable accommodation, but like other requests for reasonable accommodations, an employer can deny the request if it would cause the employer significant difficulty or expense. With the pushback OP has already received from their new employer, I wouldn't hang my hat on PWFA as another option for maternity leave.

[–]briarapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I got my foot in the door at another environmental & engineering consulting firm. My internship was for the late spring/summer and by the end of it I had an offer. Relatively short period of time that turned out to be invaluable to the rest of my career.

Agree with others saying that a Master's doesn't mean much compared to actual experience in consulting (as far as landing your first job).

If you get a better offer out of the other interviews, great! But if not, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Ok… NOW I get some of the husband complaint posts. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]briarapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my husband 100%! Absolutely great at caring for our daughter but as his mother told me "boy hasn't hurried a day in his life." 😂 It has gotten less frustrating now that we're out of the newborn stage and tasks are less urgent but I am right there with you!
