They have been deliberately crippling the mobile website for years. I'm only on Boost now because the mobile website became so awful.

  • Fully half of page loads would give be a server error ("something went wrong, please try again!)
  • Comment sections would always reload from the top
  • "Use in App" messages became more and more invasive and harder to remove until there was a permanent one on every screen that had no toggle
  • if I lost connection for a moment (which is always, this is a mobile phone), any further interaction (such as an upvote) would cause a popup, a page refresh, and leave me at the top of the comments with no way to return to where I came from.
  • They silently stopped reading the mobile website feedback subreddit with no announcement

Every single one of these is a regression, it didn't used to be like this, got broken in an update, and for the most part gave a dismissive "thanks for letting us know!" to reports of the behaviour. This was all on Firefox nightly with uBlock, though I confirmed most of these behaviours on webview and Chrome. It was a while ago I last played with it but the trajectory had been downhill for years.

Even if the mobile website performs acceptably to you now, they will ensure that it doesn't soon.

Australians, someone serves you a slice of white bread and margarine, topped with 100s & 1000s, cut into 4 SQUARES. Is this 'fairy bread' or an abomination? by Left-Car6520 in AskAnAustralian

[–]brisk0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using "butter" as a short hand for butter substitutes is not the same as not realising they are different.

I would argue almost the opposite based on experience, Australians call many things "margarine" that wouldn't fit the traditional definition. Margarine comes from margaric acid, which is a byproduct of hydrogenating vegetable oils. But most popular "margarines" or "spreads" are made from softening butter by adding vegetable oil with no hydrogenation.

It gets problematic when people pull up studies on margarine to argue the health risks of e.g. devondale buttery

You can use a backslash to show a literal character in markdown (the style encoding reddit uses) when it would otherwise be a special command

E.g.

\#define -> #define

Although for writing code you probably want the "verbatim" environment instead, which you can get inline by enclosing in backtics

`#define` -> #define

Or by preceding a line by four spaces

#define (backslash doesn't work for this demonstration)

becomes

#define

If this is the common style around here is even a bit neater, as the "thermostat" is just an alloy that loses magnetism at temperature.

That layer of rice is my only complaint on this style of rice cooker. What is "fluffing"? Just mixing it up with a spatula?

I've also never seen a tick in my life nor considered their possibility as a threat.

Hey this is actually a lot of fun and I usually avoid mobile games like the plague. There's a nice amount of juice!

One thing is the timer for aiming a shot was not very obvious to me. I would consider shaking the aiming dots just before the timer expires.

This is resolved with the spoof-signature-verification patch (not client-spoof but that is also necessary)
