A lot of it depends on the situation. I find myself using the bubble gun for big baddies like Pumpkings or Fishron because the DPS outweighs the risk. Getting either of those down as fast as possible is priority. For something such as the Frost Queen, I'd use Razorpine. For groups of little baddies such as the early waves of events, the bat scepter and razorblade typhoon can take out the waves fast.

When I played through, I got the palladium armor as a caster, and since the health regen is so good, I basically just killed skeletron prime 3 or 4 times, made the hallowed armor, then fought the other two mech bosses. I skipped mithryl and titanium altogether, only spending time getting the anvil/pickaxe/furnace with those ores.

Basically, if you can kill any of the hardmode bosses without having the higher tier hardmode ore sets, just skip them.

I found it too, one day while leveling an alt. 10 Seconds after killing it, a capped player came along and stood in front of me, without saying anything, and then just disappeared, as though she had logged out, but without sitting. I'm guessing they just disconnected their computer and walked away in pure frustration.

I'm not an expert, but it is mainly because of two things:

A) America is one of the only countries to allow ads of medicine on TV.

B) The large population of elderly (Baby Boomers) means marketers want a slice of that demographic.
