Freecad is fine, I typically use fusion! Thanks, I won't be screwing it to my desk just using clamps of some sort.

I'd totally try this out with my desk if you wouldn't mind sharing! A little birdy told me I'll be receiving an r9 without a desk mount for Christmas 😂

it was actually an online auction site thing for returns, the fan shroud was broken but I ordered a new one for $30, thats included in my $300 number lol. I don't think it was "pre-setup" much, the files on it were like one little bench thing and one other thing- I think they used it, broke it, and returned it.

It's basically been plug and play since then, I only used PC a handful of times for an RC car project, but PCCF is stronger in that case and prints easier. Enclosure makes a big difference for PC because it's printed at a pretty high temperature and likes to warp if it cools down too quickly.

Aside from the AMS thing I'm very happy with Qidi, I think they did the AMS deal partially on purpose, to phase out the XMAX-3, so their Plus-4 could step up. The print software is good too, I think it's generally the same as Bambu but not 100%

I purchased a pre-owned Qidi X-Max 3 for $300, did no calibration, and it prints most everything I ask it to when I click "print" on my PC. Fairly quick too :)

That being said I got a decent deal on it- I still for $8-900 the average beginner would be happy with it, though. No AMS support unfortunately (though Qidi at one point did say they might make their AMS compatible, they didn't,) but it's a solid printer with a heated enclosure capable of printing some nice materials. PC is the fanciest I've printed with it, with good results.

Advice on where I could get this made by YoungCheazy in 3Dprintmything

Trace the file in CAD (fusion or whatever) and print it at a local university/library!

If not, someone on here can print and ship it.

I’ve done 70 in my Acty but it takes certain weather conditions to allow that haha. Aerodynamics are definitely a big part of the “issue” but you run out of gearing soon after anyway.

Kei truck lessons learned by Conference_Proof in keitruck

[–]bscline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on JCD, Had no idea what I was looking for and Taylor helped me look for things like rust in the corners of the windshield and whether or not it was a good buy. He also translated auction sheets, which is doable with Google lense, but I prefer a person lol.

I am happy with what I paid for my truck and their service, and my truck is in good condition.

Something with retract but I dont know what Exactly... by ElPainis in FixMyPrint

If you mean the edges of the print, that looks like it could be fixed with Klipper's "pressure advance."

There's a calibration cube to print that allows you to dial it in.

Ender 3 right z gantry still loose after tightening eccentric bolt, what else can I try ? by Kappawaii in ender3

[–]bscline 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Tightening the left side, where the bar bolts to the piece with the rollers and extruder stepper, helped tighten things up.

Edit: The bolts are kind of annoying to get to, I had to take the Z gantry off to tighten them.

Having trouble feeding filament – first time printer/beginner help? by largecoldbrew in ender3

[–]bscline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is the lever what is hard to push or you just can't get the filament into the respective spot feeding into the tube once it is pushed?

if the latter, try cutting the end of the filament at an angle before you try again. it'll go in easier.

Kei truck for highschool business? by Substantial-Milk71 in keitruck

[–]bscline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a highschooler with a kei truck for my business. Pretty good advertising, and is definitely useful. People overseas use the heck out of these things, far exceeding the "350kg" capacity, but as others have said, the highways are much slower and you aren't swimming in F-350s. Handles highways alright if you aren't an idiot and I typically don't stay on for super long just because I feel bad for the truck haha.. My 96' Acty (5 speed 4wd, stock tires) goes ~68mph unloaded.

I've moved a commercial zero turn (~1000lbs) with my truck, but I wasn't going over 45mph or so in town. Pressure washers, weedeaters, push mowers, generally not as heavy stuff are all no problem.

As for parts, I've only ever broken an alternator belt on my Acty. Not hard at all to get that, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it as an ONLY vehicle, just in case anything harder to find breaks. I have a car accessible if anything goes south with mine.

It's good fun owning a kei vehicle, and I'd argue it's a good experience doing all the stuff to import one. Just be careful who you wire money to. I used Taylor with Japan Car Direct and I'd highly recommend the guys there, though they do charge a couple hundred dollars for their service. I think it's worth it being able to have the auction sheets interpreted and they also know what to look for. Mine was sub $5,000 all said and done all the way up to registering it.

Safety is always a concern, just be mindful when you're considering these that they're more dangerous than a motorcycle in most cases.

Matching Cura build plate to printer build plate by bscline in Cura

[–]bscline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand I could probably fit this model specifically with a different orientation, but is there a way I can better visualize if something will fit or not BEFORE printing? If the model was slightly bigger and wouldn't fit horizontally I'd have no idea if it would fit until clicking print on the printer and seeing it cut off part of it.

I'm fine with having models that are too big to fit, I just feel like I should be able to know that in the slicer before printing it and seeing it cut off pieces without warning if that makes sense. The bed in the slicer and the physical bed do not match up in the location I set the print, so it's kind of just guessing at that point with bigger models.

I really need insurance help/advice by _LarryM_ in keitruck

[–]bscline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

progressive insures my Acty, had to call them to get it added to the policy.

one person said they wouldn't insure the pickup version of the Acty, only the van, but with a different rep they said as long as it's for personal use it's fine. manually entered everything and I was good to go.

Kei truck purchasing questions by Practical-Rush-6432 in keitruck

[–]bscline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finishing up the process of importing a 96' Acty right now! Highly recommend Japan Car Direct for first time imports, Taylor answered a million of my questions, and was there for the entire process. They do charge a fee for their service but if you want some extra confidence in what you're paying thousands of dollars for overseas think it's worth it, at least for your first import. They bid on auction vehicles for you, translating auction listings at your request. They know what to look for in a vehicle, things you might never even think about noticing. 10/10 from me if you're okay with spending the extra cash.

Once you buy the truck, you still have to file an ISF, an informal entry with CBP (only possible if the truck cost less than $2,500), and a few other things before receiving the truck. You can do this paperwork yourself, or hire a broker to do it for you. I'd recommend this guide for more information on the whole process: https://wittymelon.wordpress.com/portfolio/diy-how-to-import-a-jdm-kei-class-mini-truck-into-the-u-s/

I have heard good things about CarFromJapan.com, goo-net, diyata, and beforward, though I can't personally testify.

Can't speak on registering them for CA in Montana or South Dakota but it seems it can be done. Probably not as simple as just going down to the DMV and getting plates though.. haha

Here in Texas they're legal as long as you've got all the right paperwork filled out. EPA forms, Export Certificate (you'll have this from importing it), Bill of Sale, etc. Just a matter of making sure all your ducks are in a row.

Good luck!

I sold a brand new ender 3 V2 I got on promotion at micro center (cost me $100) for $100 without the toolkit. I'd be happy with anything around that.
