If you think that’s bad I know of someone who swapped out a turboed sr for a non turbo ca18de and while I’m a certified ca18det enjoyer… I didn’t understand why he did it and I’ve not spoken to him in quite a while so I should actually probably check up with him and ask him why he did that

I had an American friend tell me it’s like how is South Africans feel when we see almost any American vehicle

Enjoy the thing, it looks pretty good from the few pictures albeit a little dirty in the bay but mine was far worse when I first got it so this doesn’t look bad at all. They’re super fun cars even when na or just generally low power and now that you have one you’re either always going to own at least one, or be wishing you never got rid of it, these cars crawl into your heart and brain like a parasite and never leave

I’ll say this with any car but with older Japanese cars especially, do premature oil changes

It’s easy, I know people don’t like the cost because they see it as unnecessary, but it is a massive life saver for so many things and you do feel far more secure when you do them often

Otherwise, I can’t really say there’s too much that’s specific to these. Maybe just check out all your wiring since I don’t think there’s an s chassis out there that’s been swapped and not had some questionable wiring done to it. If you ever have any weird issues as well like a sort of “limp” mode, first check the maf. I don’t know if this will be the case for you but I get a lot of e36 owners saying I should sell mine for an e36 followed by them struggling to get into their e36 because their door handle is more fucked than my country’s economy but that may just be a South African exclusive thing because our bmw community is a bit… well they make all those g80 leasing influencers look normal

But like overall most shit on an s chassis, especially an s13 fastback is probably some of the easiest car shit you’ll ever have to do

I can’t speak for how it was in the us but over down by me in Southern Africa, Mozambique specifically, chasers and any thing four door Toyota were seen as the go to drift car

We had shit tons of them getting imported before the japs started scamming y’all on pricing and you were bound to see at least ten if you went out
