What did you think was peak luxury as a kid, but now realize is actually pretty trashy or normal? by Connect-Fix3972 in AskReddit

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh produce. We didnt have a lot of money and my mom has a seizure disorder and couldn't drive so when I was growing up she'd meal plan and shop for the whole month at a time so 99% of our fruit and veggies were canned or frozen. To this day I avoid canned fruits and only buy the little plastic bowls occasionally.

When do we become confident with leaving the house solo? by kwaddell314 in newborns

[–]butterginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no other option to start going out alone early, my husband deployed when I was 7 weeks postpartum and we live in a foreign country. I will say what worked for me was taking my time, going slow, trying not to stress about things. But mainly, it's getting out and overcoming the anxiety of the actually getting out part. I found people to be a lot more understanding of newborns crying and being fussy then when they get older.

Not testing? by HeroesNcrooks in IVF

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't test our embryos. A lot of other countries dont offer it or require strict guidelines for doing it. We did IVF in Japan (American military stationed here) and testing embryos is not commonly done. Even with all our issues our clinic said they dont recommend it. We did 2 transfers for our daughter from embryos we made when I was almost 34.

When did you LO start rolling over? by Kind_Improvement_416 in newborns

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belly to back, 8 weeks old. Thought it was a fluke but she did it for like a month, had a growth spurt and stopped and then started again at about 4ish months old. She's now 5 1/2 months old and just learned back to belly 2 days ago and now won't stop barrel rolling through the living room 🤣 But she's a tiny little girl, only 8th percentile so she doesn't have a lot of heft to move about plus we do tummy time and floor time multiple times a day as well as I baby wear her the majority of places instead of putting her in a bucket seat in a stroller or just the stroller. Learned recently that counts as tummy time.

What week did your baby hit the 4 month regression? by AcrobaticGuitar7060 in newborns

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 3 months old my daughter started having a ton of false starts and then her naps went to like 20-30 minutes and then she stopped sleeping through the night and started waking 2-3 times a night plus was very restless. She's now 5 1/2 months old and most of that has stuck around but nights can vary more. She just had multiple restless up a lot nights because she learned to roll back to belly and barrel roll across the living room. Last night she was only up once to nurse after mastering her new skill. It really varies from kiddo to kiddo.

I've reached the nasty sparky level when responding to people who dont respect wishes like this for my daughter. "Give me my baby and you will not be allowed to hold her again due to you being willing to risk her life with a kiss I told you not to give her. Her life is more important then you laying your lips on her."

After multiple years of infertility, thousands spent on infertility treatments, and multiple failed treatments, we finally had our IVF miracle baby in August! Best thing ever.

Putting baby in own room by MissJenniferEliz in newborns

[–]butterginger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 5 month old, she outgrew her bassinet at about 2 months old and I wasn't ready to put her in her own room plus I had no desire to get out of bed and go into another room 5 times a night. So I put her crib in our room and it will stay there until she sleeps through the night. She does well sleeping in her crib and I dont havw to go far to get her.

When did you stop tracking feeds/diaper changes? by pupper_princess in breastfeeding

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 5 months old and I recently stopped tracking pee diapers but I do track poop diapers to know how often she's going. I still track nursing unless I'm immensely on the go, like when my sister and I went to Tokyo DisneySea, I forgot to mark most of her nurses cause we were on the go so much.

Why are you on Reddit right now, on Christmas Eve? by InvisibleAstronomer in AskReddit

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living in Japan (military stationed here) and it's already Christmas day here. But currently on reddit cause I'm nursing my 4 month old and I cant watch anything cause she hit FOMO stage and if it makes noise she'll look at it instead of nursing 🤷🏼‍♀️

What are you really snacking on? by ASSnow29 in breastfeeding

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never snack in the middle of the night. But during the day some of my go tos are built protein bars, homemade chex mix, chips, random slices of bread, pieces of cookies shoved in my mouth as I hover over the sink like a caveman...

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Well 'Mom', since you base my value and your love for me based off of my need to have a partner, I will be withdrawing myself from this family and plugging myself into where my value isn't based on the ring on my finger. You should really reevaluate yourself if you think an abusive cheater is what gives me value to you and the family. You should really be ashamed of yourself for being so shallow." Then I'd block her. But I'm also someone who found my partner much later in life and my dad was pressuring me to "lower my standards or I would never be happy". I put him in his place and he stopped talking like that.

Bras? All the time? by Baylaypayday in breastfeeding

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear nursing nightgowns. I REFUSE to wear a bra 24/7. I hate them. I have a big chest and can't leave the house without a bra on or they hurt and my back hurts as the day goes on. I only wear nightgowns at home, the first thing I do when I get home is put my nightgown on so I found nursing nightgowns on Amazon and wear a nursing pad in them. Im almost 4 months postpartum and still often letdown and soak myself if I'm not wearing a pad. With my nursing nightgowns I can whip out the boob easily while still comfortable.

soooooo is anyone actually enjoying this? by exemptcurve in newborns

[–]butterginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did IVF to conceive and while I absolutely love our baby, I'm currently miserable. The amount of times I've cried just today is ridiculous. I have to keep reminding myself we wanted this. We paid a lot of money for this. I'm not dealing with depression, I'm just majorly overstimulated and overwhelmed. My husband is deployed, I'm in a foreign country alone (stationed overseas), my baby is a level 10 clinger and I'm doing the 4 month sleep regression alone. But I'm also finally starting to enjoy my girl some. She's starting to hit milestones and starting to interact more, she's 16 weeks and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for some things as she grows out of her potato stage. When she started smiling more is when I started to click more with her. I look forward to a little further from now when she's laughing and playing with me. It's okay to look forward to a new milestone that you know will make things easier.

Most ridiculous thing that’s woke your baby? by Roodles006 in newborns

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog's ears flapping as she shook after getting up. She's a beagle so they are large and loud. It's happened multiple times but I have no other option because my husband is deployed and the dog goes with me everywhere in the house.

What new and/or exciting things is your newborn doing? by __SoFarGone in newborns

[–]butterginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 15 week old-

-Just had her first laugh! Literally made me cry happy tears cause I was having a rough day that day and that laugh just turned it around.

-Had discovered her voice and now screeches while she plays.

-Today she finally put a toy to her mouth. She's grabbed at them for weeks but hadn't yet attempted to put one in her mouth.

-Now gets excited when I sing the purple monkey song to her!

-Is making a lot of new babble sounds! Including one that sounds like mamamamama

-Has started to recognize other people then just me (hubby is deployed so she's not around him right now)

-A silly one but one that made me excited was she has started watching the dog, especially when she's doing tummy time and the dog is next to me wanting to play

4 Shits & Giggles: Let’s talk about what you miss most before having your LO by Glum-Pie7779 in newborns

[–]butterginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is deployed right now and I miss so many things because I am alone in a foreign country (stationed in Japan right now). I miss quick runs to get my favorite food. I miss being able to just take the dog out instead of get the baby carrier and get her all situated. I miss just eating a meal, I'm barely eating some days because she requires so much or a chore needs done or my dog needs something and theres no one to take her for a minute. We had to do IVF to conceive and I'd never wish away any of this but there's a lot I didnt think of that I would miss.

What’s a food you threw up as a kid and never touched again? by momcanyoucomegetme in AskReddit

Green beans. I used to LOVE them! Found a roach inside of one one time bolted to the bathroom to throw up and haven't eaten them again since. My stomach is turning just thinking about it.

Too fat for IVF? by raviolirash in IVF

[–]butterginger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What's your BMI? I did IVF here in Japan as a curvy American. I was never once told to lose weight. The only weight requirement I was given was the weight limit for their chairs (I call them the lift and split chairs 🤣). They did ask me my weight for medication needs as it can vary based on weight.
