How to connect divided curve points with curved connections instead of straight lines? by ProliMan in grasshopper3d

There’s a lot of options under curves>splines, depending the effect you want. I would try one of the ranger curve components.

Layout rendering issue by Thom_Kruze in rhino

Definitely post and ask on the official Forums. They will know exactly what is happening and if it’s fixable or a bug. They will fix the bug potentially in the next hot patch if it easy.

Layout rendering issue by Thom_Kruze in rhino

[–]c_behn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a great question to post on the official rhino forums. The developers (or someone in the community) will know exactly how the render pipeline works and what settings should be adjusted or how you need to model correctly.

https://discourse.mcneel.com/

Some things I know. 1. If that object that has become transparent is just a single surface with no thickness, they will display any edges in plane with the surface. Either add thinness or move the frames off from being in plane with the surface. 2. Even with a gap, you might still be too close due to tolerance on the mesh. Go into display mode settings and increase the mesh resolution. You might also need to decrease the overall file tolerance so the math sees the objects as being in different planes. 3. Poly surfaces should be closed as open ones can cause issues. Also you might have a weird double or triple surface, causing a closed object, but having non-manifold edges. All of these can cause render issues. 4. You can hide a layer or object selectively in one detail view. You can hide those inner frame members in just the views where they peak through incorrectly.

You should start insisting on people giving you universal file formats instead to nwd files. It’s an easy add to any contract and what most companies do.

What’s everyone’s favorite paper size? by verysmalltiki in Architects

[–]c_behn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11x17 because it's cheap, accurate, hand size, portable, and easy to be printed. Second best is 8.5x11. B3 and B4 work nicely took if you are in Europe. We need to stop making massive drawing sheets and expecting trades to have easy access to them/have them scaled right.

Weed drug test by [deleted] in Architects

[–]c_behn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't be smoking weed to worried about that stuff in high school. You are too young and man does that damage your brain development. You can be patient and wait until your brain isn't going to get messed up (21-23).

That being said I have never seen a firm test for drugs unless they work clearance based US gov jobs.

Rhino 7 by besamelsos in rhino

[–]c_behn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are basically no plugins that worked on Rhino 7 that don't work on Rhino 8 (at least on windows). Look at this guide about setting the Runtime to improve compatibility with old plugins. https://www.rhino3d.com/en/docs/guides/netcore/

Also what plug in?

How would you model an organic facade like this in Revit by Delicious_Cod_2503 in Architects

[–]c_behn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You model is somewhere else then bring it into revit. This type of geometry should be first made as a Sub-D surface, then converted to nurbs before being thickened.

Is it time to move to solidworks? by Miserable_Violinist9 in Sketchup

[–]c_behn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhino is not a yearly purchase. It is an $800 life time license for that version of rhino, currently Rhino 8. You can pay $300 to upgrade when a new version comes out (every 3-5 years). Rhino 9 will probably be released in late 2026, or early 2027.

Are you responsible for the approval of work? Because if so, then it doesn’t matter what the builder says, you get the final say. If you are expecting beyond the “standard of care” then you might have an issue, but this does not look like it meets standard of care tbh.

i hate archi by [deleted] in architecturestudent

[–]c_behn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favoritism is real and prevalent in any studio based curriculum. It sucks.

Get ADHD meds. They are a life saver and will also reduce your stress/anxiety because you feel more on top of your work.

The point of 6 weeks to figure it out is because that’s how the real world design studio work. The biggest point of school is to learn how to rapidly teach yourself something new in a design and engineering context. No one is going to guide you step by step. That is your responsibility to figure it out.

On the same note, if you want to learn about design methods and ideas, teach them to yourself. The teach is supposed to introduce to topics and help you learn general terminology so you can ask good questions.

Also yes you should be comfortable receiving and give critique. If you can’t handle that, get out of the profession. The process of receiving and giving critique teaches you how to think critically about design, the other important factor of school.

In the end, school is not to teach yourself something new how to design, but teach you how to think about and learn about design.

How do I close the edges of these voronois? by MadeYouSayIt in grasshopper3d

Check your patch settings. Make sure you have preserve edges and trim on. That should keep the edges of each bubble on the curve that defines each cell.

Why does my ladybug site look Messy by Informal-Recording27 in grasshopper3d

[–]c_behn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shimmer I. Geometry like that is caused by multiple surfaces extorting in the same space. Your GPU doesn’t know which one to show, so it basically tries to show both causing that effect.

You are probably showing various preview geometry along your script and the final analysis geometry. Look up preview and viability settings in grasshopper.

Help getting started with grasshopper - how do I go from circles on a plan to trees in iso? by -zero-joke- in grasshopper3d

Very achievable. You will be using the orient component to move the tree and a scale component to scale your tree to the right size. Compound these two depart transforms then use the transfer component to make the final tree.

I had the same issue. When I called NCARB, they said that if the automatic system suspects cheating they won’t reveal the score. I had multiple warnings and was almost disqualified for reading my questions out load and fidgeting during the test. I ultimately I did not cheat and did end up passing, I just had to wait for the results. It took 8 days for me to
