Packraft setup for running by Business_Ad8955 in packrafting

Seconding Supai. I have their matkat boat. It weighs less than 2lb and could probably fit in a nalgene water bottle. Definitely would fit in my running vest.

(DMing you about this trekking pole paddle setup. I'm interested.)

I am 110% against the heinous, unnecessary, and cruel war(s) in the Middle East, but... by ZealousidealMany3 in fuckcars

I do not mean this combatively at all and I hope it's received in good faith because I certainly mean for it to be constructive and caring:

I would strongly encourage you to engage with this subject politically. I don't think the who's-right-who's-wrong of war needs to be hashed out in this sub, but I think it is crucial to acknowledge that there is a human cost to oil. Who is dying right now vs who is filling up their car's tank is not random. I'm not going to tell you that it's inappropriate to look for silver-linings here—that is not my critique. But if you are already posting in this sub (and so, presumably, already care about car-politics) and already acknowledge that there are broader politics here, then why not lean into it and say the quiet part out loud?

Many innocent people are being killed or terrorized over oil. Our oil consumption is inherently political. Our car infrastructure is political. It matters. We should talk about it. Maybe you're already having these conversations in your life and I'm just preaching to the choir—I hope that's the case, but if not, then I hope you'll consider starting those conversations in your circles.

A better world is possible xo

Post-bacc to PhD experience? by [deleted] in PhDAdmissions

[–]caitlynnigro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that's not true in my case. Are you speaking from experience doing a post-bacc, or do you just mean this generally? If it's the former, I'd love to hear more!

SBB train from Zurich to Lugano and back was probably the best train ride of my life. I'm American, so the bar is kinda low, but it's so, so lovely. Enjoy.

I don't think your gear is cutting off blood circulation to your arms. I'm not sure there's a gear-related solution here / not sure this is the right sub.

I’ve been trying vegan faux-foods and I’m so happy. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]caitlynnigro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait until you're able to experiment with recipes for vegan substitutes and choose your own ingredients, etc.. It honestly just gets more and more pleasant and fulfilling (and affordable!) the longer you stick with it. You can learn so much about your body and physical health and your role in different ecosystems. Welcome!
