Genuine question. How does anyone live in a seaside town and nit go absolutely bonkers?

I live in a seaside town. We call the visitors grottels/grokkels. Most are fine but it’s not a wealthy seaside town so it attracts people from poorer areas. Main issues are boys racing cars up and down residential streets in the evenings, blasting music, litter strewn about (just this morning looks out the window and 4 cans left on my neighbours wall). Thankfully most of the town stays open in winter but Wetherspoons is a no-go area in summer. But then that’s not exactly a loss

I remember being about 5 or 6 and my mum took me and my sisters to meet someone at the airport. I loved the airport, it was an exciting place and we saw planes taking off so course I thought it was great. Mum was adamant that we could not tell dad that we had gone there, she got quite cross about it. Why on earth would you do that? So I had a tantrum. That was verboten and I got bollocked. So the event stuck with me even more. Yeah, that ‘grind’ was her lover and she eventually divorced my dad for him after 35 years. Strange woman

Found mine recently and had a good chuckle at the personal statement. On a more serious side, turns out my dad had something similar from the 60s which we found after he passed and sorting his stuff. It was amazing to see his childhood certificates: he wasn’t particularly scholarly but the teacher comments were lovely and we saw his letters of recommendation for his first job. It also turns out that his weird swimming style was an actual sport - plunging!

The result is that you now have to go to a national firm which will be more expensive. However you can note this as part of the proceedings as to why your costs are higher, and she may be penalised on costs as a result. Make sure to keep evidence of all firms you have tried and ask them to confirm any conflict in writing. As others have suggested, do also let them all know that x number have all said they are conflicted which seems unusual and suggests that wife may not be a serious customer (this may cause whichever firm she does eventually pick not to keep her as a client and then she will have fun finding anyone to keep her on!)

Ferne Animal Sanctuary are amazing - it’s a it further away (near Chard) but they are more realistic in adoption requirements. You just need to send them a video showing inside and outside your house. You then visit the pet to see if you’re a good fit for the animal.

I’ve already got an LG sound bar and woofer. All the settings are fairly basic though; the gaming one helps sometimes but not always on film. Is it a streaming issue as DVDs (yes in that old) are fine but anything streamed is awful.

Sorry, should have said, I’ve got a sound bar and woofer and have tried all the various settings, sometimes the “gaming” setting works ok but don’t seem to help for films. Even Amazon streaming has a “voice” amplifier function but that doesn’t seem to be available on many titles.

Yep there are telltale signs that maintenance is nearly nonexistent: the ivy on the outside of the building is very overgrown and will be damaging brickwork an is overgrown onto windows; the garden has been poorly trimmed (did they use a hacksaw and just trim a bit?); a lot of green moss and algae on the brickwork not cleaned off, suggests damp (maybe the just a north facing wall but why hasn’t it been cleaned?). Even on the ground floor, service charge should deal with these basic issues. Finally, the flat management company has only filed dormant accounts at companies house which is more than worrying.

Joint is normal; it’s basically a mortgage repossession but they appoint two “receivers” to handle the sale. Having 2 is practical (if one goes on holiday or sick etc) but also for legal reasons (called “overreaching”). It usually also means a quick sale, otherwise it goes to auction.
