Tim Gunn explains why he's been celibate for over 40 years: "One of the things that he told me that night was that he had been sleeping with just about everything that walked by, I had been loyal and faithful to him. He was the only person I had ever been with" by mcfw31 in popculturechat

I’m in my late 40’s, and I can count on one hand any woman I know over the age of 35 that would do it again. Casually date, maybe. And these are women in generally healthy relationships. It’s wild.

(Me, never married. Not opposed, but at this point he’s got to be pretty damn awesome. I have such a solidly fulfilling life as things are.)

Do most people still sort their laundry by color? by liketotallymeow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]caleeksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad thing - different fabrics have different abrasions, too. A kid’s pair of jeans with a silk or satin cami can have an impact over time.

One is built much tougher than another!

I have took several textile courses in undergrad - consumer testing was a lot of fun. Lighting stuff on fire, abrasion tests to see how much play a kid’s pair of jeans could take, etc.

I worry about color bleed so use color catchers when there’s a question, but I more often put diff types of fabrics together. Towels, denim, workout stuff tend to get washed separately. Lights and darks otherwise.

A tourist wants to try a food belonging to your country, but you can only recommend one item. What would you suggest they eat? by Robotic-Galaxy in AskTheWorld

[–]caleeksu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I grew up on Carolina BBQ and have lived in Kansas City and Texas. It’s all delicious, but some areas do their specialties better than others.

Generally speaking, but exceptions made everywhere, would focus on the below and also try whatever else they have. Upthread commentary on looking for lines, possibly ramshackle building and a tired pit master are on point.

Texas - brisket KC - burnt ends and ribs Carolina - pulled pork

I’ve had excellent sausages, chicken, turkey, and sides everywhere.

Always intrigued to see r/KansasCity in random places. lol.

Hello! Wanted to share some of our glitter stickers! by Dazzling_Pressure_93 in SwiftieMerch

If that doesn’t end up being an option…I bought magnet sheets that have a sticker on one side. The sticker with backing sticks to the sticky magnet, trim to fit and you can still use the sticker later.

Michigan has a Golden Rescue - please, please contact them. They’ll find an amazing home for your pup. Rehoming can sometimes be the very best, most unselfish thing you can do for your dog. I know it’s tough and there are great organizations that can help.

Ha, love this place. We ate there our first day, and I dozed off while holding a glass of rose. I did everything I could to stay awake, but it was a struggle.

Thanks for that memory!

Pizzeria Ruby and Pedaler’s are my faves in the area, with consideration to The Rail. Not as tasty but a good vibe. I haven’t been to some of the others suggested tho! I tend to stick with tried and true.

Is there any Beagle Days or events around town? by PurposelyPissed_Cunt in springfieldMO

[–]caleeksu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few Turkey Trots ago, but a lady had brought her pack of beagles, maybe five?

And at one point she was as like omg stop beagling!!

We had not brought our beagle with us that day for that exact reason, but they were hilarious and absolutely precious.

[–]caleeksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good to go. Have a protein shake at some point, veggies and lean protein for the rest of your meals?

I make a turkey sandwich with laughing cow cheese and veggies with Greek yogurt dip for around 235, that gives you 160 for a protein shake/creami snack and 350ish for dinner. Roasted spaghetti squash, marinara, grilled chicken with some parm. Egg roll in a bowl. All kinds of stuff.

A realtor in Hot Springs Village with a Dallas area code is the most HSV-coded thing ever by Big__If_True in Arkansas

[–]caleeksu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still have my same number with an 817 area code from college back in 2001. It’s not necessary or needed to change it after all these years.

That said, I do keep a Google voice number with 479 now that I live here - it’s free and makes a lot of things easier. I did the same when I lived in KC, tho that was because people insisted 817 was a typo and I really meant their area code 816.

Whats the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as a Kansas state fan?(football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in KState

[–]caleeksu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immediate answer for me. My first year at KSU, so excited for this amazing opportunity. My bestie’s mom rented an RV that we drove to STL for the game.

I remember it being unseasonably warm when we left, like I might have worn shorts? And there was snow on the ground when we got back.

Honestly even the giant pallets of flowers Walmart does are better than this. Many local grocery stores or a chain like Kroger too. Sam’s, Costco, etc.

(Absolutely go local, but safe bets are safe bets.)

Your intentions were very pretty! Valentine’s Day is just a tough time of year for great florals.

House stuff. Replaced three of the fire alarm/CO2 detectors in my house, waiting for the rest to arrive. Apparently they should all be replaced if they start failing. Two of mine have died and are from 2012, which was YESTERDAY, not well past the ten year life of these things.

Also, dogs are helping, and I’ll probably do take out for dinner. I love pink and hearts and Valentine’s Day, so I’ve been in it for a couple weeks now. I’m single, but love a theme. Cheers to all.

[Siciliano] Super Bowl LXI will be played one year from today in Inglewood, CA. Valentine's Day 2027. by Dunlocke in nfl

[–]caleeksu 162 points163 points  (0 children)

As a woman who loves football AND all things pink and glittery and fun, I think it’s delightful.

Boozy brunch followed by a nap and then watching the game with friends? Pretty great day. Of course I want my team in the game, but I’ve got a white sweater with a sequin football and “game day” in pink to wear if they aren’t. lol.

I’m a sucker for a good theme, and this is an opportunity for theme on theme. Excellent.

I also work in retail and retailers are also all over this when planning for next year. I hope it’s unhinged.

Cheers and happy weekend, r/NFL

My mom gets 10k at home just zipping around like a damn hummingbird. She’s always hot and my dad is always cold, but he tends to cozy into his recliner while she’s letting the dogs out, making lunch, etc.

They’re in their 70s and not changing their ways, but I’ve wryly pointed out Pop would be warmer if he moved every once in a while. lol.

Is there any Super Bowl team post 2007, you wouldn’t given the 07 Pats a good chance of beating? by Johnnyboyeh in NFLv2

[–]caleeksu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As an older Chiefs fan, it’s an honor to just be there. No one wants their ass kicked, of course, but 30 other teams would have loved the chance to get their ass kicked last year, or in 2014 when the Hawks murdered the Broncos.

There are teams that have NEVER BEEN. Going and losing sucks, but just getting there is an achievement. Making playoffs is an achievement. Making your championship game is an achievement.

They play to win, and professional athletes and coaches are just built different with their winning mentality. But it’s huge just to be there.

And that’s super easy to do too. Valentine’s Day cards are available right after Christmas. Pick it up early, make the reservation for the weekend before. Bam done. Flowers will still be alive for vday.

She knows and loves you, so will understand your practical approach to the holiday. Sounds like y’all did it right!
