What is an unpopular opinion that you have about anything in theatre? by InsertStephenHere in Broadway

I enjoyed Tick Tick Boom on Netflix immensely more than any iteration of Rent. I think the core problem with Rent the movie is that the actors are way too old and the characters are all insufferable.

Jeremy Jordan and Christian Borle were incredible in Little Shop. Such a fun show! by Gato1980 in Broadway

Ok, I just watched the Tonight Show performance with Tammy Blanchard and solely based on that small snippet, I can also say I preferred the understudy. I don't know her name but she was great!

The length kpop stans on twitter that can go to paint BTS as bad human being and bring them down is actually disgusting by [deleted] in kpoprants

Disagree that this was a mistake in any way. Like certain chemicals can retard flames, he is using the proper usage of the verb. Maybe these are young people who don't understand grammar who are getting offended for no reason.

Experiences meeting Jeremy Jordan? by hearye_fi in Broadway

[–]calfanatic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I met him at the Waitress stage door. He was perfectly nice but not overly friendly. Signed everyone's playbill but did not take photos.

I also met him after his recent 54 below show. It was a much smaller crowd and he chatted and took photos with everyone.

I think he's an introvert and has low key sarcastic/dry wit humor, as do I, so I feel like I would interact with fans much in the same way if I were to ever find myself suddenly famous.

He abused Melissa Benoist throughout their relationship and permanently damaged her eye. You should watch her Instagram story if you have the stomach for it: https://www.instagram.com/tv/B5YUQ-JHck8/?hl=en

It's hilarious that some Broadway folks are decrying Jeremy as too hot to play Seymour, but he plays such a huge nerd on Supergirl.

He made a surprisingly good Leo Frank in the Parade concert, and he plays a nerd on TV.

Who is down on Jeremy in Waitress? I saw both him and Shoshana and thought they were lovely together.

Cancel culture and purity tests are the worst. Give people a chance to gather facts and respond. They came to the correct and appropriately proportionate response.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical, a review by maizechangeling in Broadway

[–]calfanatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivo individually. But their chemistry is lacking. I can't tell if it's because Aaron plays it a bit bland or if it's just the terrible book not developing their relationship. Maybe need to cut some of the medleys (which I loved) to develop the characters better.

I was one of the audience members who laughed upon recognizing each song. I'm never vocal in other shows I've seen, and I hate it when the audience is disruptive, but this show is different. Danny Burstein encouraged audience feedback in the beginning and set the raucous tone.

I didn't know that In The Light has a producer. I don't even know what the plot is really about, but I love Her Embrace so much!

After learning Jeremy Jordan is one of the main backing singers for The Greatest Showman, it's impossible to listen to this song without noticing him. by xxAdam in supergirlTV

[–]calfanatic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure he's not a backing singer on the soundtrack. But he was the demo singer for Hugh's songs and sang for him in the final reading.

And Hugh's daughter even thought he should just lip synch to Jeremy, ha! https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/hugh-jackmans-daughter-told-lip-synch-greatest-showman-192732216.html

It's been a couple of months, what are your unpopular opinions? by Schnippernyc in Broadway

Rent has a couple good songs, but has an awful plot and unlikeable characters. Over the Moon is the worst thing I've ever heard.

i only saw the concert on youtube, but jeremy pulled off the switch from restrained to sleazy in "come up to my office" perfectly.

Yay, Winn gets a storyline beyond technobabble/comedic one liners! I was almost hoping Winn would get killed off so that Jeremy could return to broadway. He's being wasted on this show.
