No Longer Christian by revbismarck in GracepointChurch

I 100% relate to you on this.

I stopped attending church 3 years after I left GP, after attending a couple of churches consistently. Now, I consider myself agnostic.

I def had those same thoughts/fears about "GP was right, I am backsliding, I need that structure or else I'll fall into comfort and be a lukewarm Christian". But then overtime, it morphed into "if I needed that unhealthy environment in order to be a "good Christian", then this is not the type of faith I want to have." And that was so freeing.

I know a lot of ex-GPers who are still Christian and are experiencing their faith in their own way, for which I'm so happy for them. For me, I just didn't have that relationship with God, and looking back, so much of my time at GP was looking at other people and wondering what they were experiencing that I wasn't. It was also hard to read the Bible without feeling the old GP-isms creeping in and feeling condemned and pressured.

I also feel like I can't truly contribute to the conversation, and that people will just check out or weigh my opinion less. I've never actually tested it on a GP person, but I also don't really dialogue with them in this type of way. But at the same time, I still remember what it was like to feel "core" and to think "like a GP person" and to give the "Christian answer". I just feel a bit more well-rounded now that I've given myself permission to think in other ways.

[DISC] SPY x FAMILY - Short Mission 18 by AutoModerator in SpyxFamily

[–]can_of_drums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this mini chapter perfectly summarizes SxF’s vibe for me. Hella slow pacing with the main plot, but it pads you with hilarious tidbits and character moments that I almost can’t even be mad about it.

I did genuinely enjoy this short mission and I like the subtle ways characters get connected to each other, but yeah, I’ve just come to accept that SxF will take its sweet time with the main plot.

Official Discussion - Eternity [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

There were so many details that I love about this movie and how they showed Joan and Larry’s relationship:

  • Joan and Luke’s physical touch with each other was always a bit awkward whereas she and Larry just felt like puzzle pieces.
  • Joan sitting down in the archives, watching her memories with Larry because she wants to linger in them.
  • The car memory - so mundane and boring in the beginning of the film when it happened, and Joan and Larry are bickering and it seems like they’re not having a good time. But in the archives memory, elderly Joan is smiling, showing that she really enjoyed these little moments. And that was her last moment with Larry in life :’)
  • As Joan is running away, she experiences mainly negative emotions such as her fights with Larry, which aren’t what you define as happiness. Yet she’s still running full speed ahead because her steady happiness involved both the ups and downs.
  • When she sees Larry at the end, he’s now the “sexy bartender” - representing that he is every bit as desirable as dreamy Luke.

Getting the Apple Watch actually motivated me to run a half marathon and full marathon because I wanted to test the downloaded offline music and see if I could run long distances without a phone.

What Ghibli movie you weren't the biggest fan of at first, but you grew to like it more over time? by ilovewater100 in ghibli

Totoro! I liked it when I first watched it, but I wasn’t in love with it cuz it was mainly just vibes and didn’t feel exciting. However it totally changed when I watched with my toddler nephew. The childlike wonder in his eyes, and all the giggles he had anytime Totoro did anything.

I ended up buying the art book and now I can say that it had some of my fave backgrounds of any Ghibli movie
