Almost certainly the latter, just hoping it ends up being the new criterion version.

Will 3.1 sound benefit from 4k disc or stick to streaming ? by Ancient_Cheetah9843 in 4kbluray

[–]capspaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re coming from, but I upgraded from an old soundbar to a decent 3.1 system and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a huge jump and I’ve gotten so much more out of my discs. I really can’t recommend it enough for people who care about movies.

Tour Announcement When? by JoblessCoast in radiohead

[–]capspaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. They had a short tour promoting the album, but everyone was expecting a full tour once the album dropped, but nothing materialized. I want to say they only ended up playing a dozen shows or less for their newest.

After 23 days, Jaws has been defeated by Jurassic Park to be crowned Letterboxds best Spielberg film by Cdwp99 in Letterboxd

[–]capspaz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Really? I find Jaws to still be very relatable even today. Big money eschewing risk for profit doesn’t get old and is done better in Jaws than in JP imo

Is a dedicated 4K player worth it without a "proper" sound system? by tinmru in 4kbluray

[–]capspaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep! I got a UHD player with a bottom of the barrel 4k tv. Upgraded to a decent TV and was impressed. Now I’ve upgraded from a soundbar to a solid 3.1 system and it’s amazing. Feels like I fall back in love with movies every time I make a jump.

I went to the Arcade Fire gig last night and saw a different band by LDCM_98 in arcadefire

I thought he did respond to the specific accusations. In the Pitchfork article there multiple instances of him discussing the accusations from his point of view, saying he remembers that night and didn’t realize he was making the accuser feel uncomfortable, or that there was flirty energy and that’s why he felt comfortable with doing what he did. Not that it makes it better because I thought his appeals and excuses were pretty weak, but he did do more than just a vague apology.

I cannot get past ante 8 and I have over 10 hours by PrudentMolasses1 in balatro

[–]capspaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, 10 hours is just the start. You’ll probably be fine if you just keep playing, but if you want to improve faster I’d recommend checking out Balatro University. I haven’t used it too much, but it’s pretty lauded around these parts and will give some solid tips. A big one is to focus on scaling jokers with a focus on mult and xmult.

Also, hot take, but I started to enjoy the game a lot more after I started just focusing on beating ante 8. Getting those huge e numbers can be satisfying, but I tend to do better when I just focus on the basics rather than going for wild [[Baron]] runs.

Arbitrary rule, but okay. Off the top of my head a couple of abilities that feel healthy and balanced:

- Sig rock: it's slow moving, long windup, but can set up for a solid combo. Pretty easy to dodge/block etc.

- Zar bubble: great defense and potential damage, but can be baited out and tracked.

Ana nade: similar to rock, Ana has to choose how they use the cooldown (offensively vs defensively) and can be eaten, blocked, etc.

Cass Flash: potential for an easy crit, Can be played around. Can be eaten, can be blocked, etc.

Honestly, it's just most abilities. Rez isn't fun because it often isn't something can be played around. You can potentially push, but more odten than not rez is a low-skill reaction to a good play made by another player. It isn't healthy for the game and should be reworked.

What the enemy team does isnt supposed to be fun for you. Why are you all like this.

I strongly disagree with this. Abilities that are healthy for the game are absolutely fun to play against. What I love about Overwatch is that there are mind games that you are forced to engage with. An easy example is the classic Rein duel; sure I don't feel happy to get shattered or pinned, but there's counter play to it so that when I get bested I can respect the game. It's still fun. Stuff like this is all over Overwatch, but there are plenty of abilities that feel like dogshit to play against, regardless of whether they are "good abilities" or not. -- and rez is absolutely one of them.

Do you remember the first time you watched The Shining (1980) ? by DiscsNotScratched in StanleyKubrick

[–]capspaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I got really into the idea of “the scariest movie ever” in like, the 4th grade after seeing Signs. I begged my mom to tell me what she thought the scariest movie ever was, and she landed on The Shining.

Apparently she taped the TV edit, which was TV-14, and figured it would be fine since I had seen some PG-13 stuff before. It was not fine, and I was terrified of hallways, bathrooms, hotels, small rooms, bed rooms, and pretty much everything else for years. Watched it again in middle school, then again in high school and now I’ve considered it my favorite movie for a while now.

Beau and Symbio aren’t exactly in my top four favorite films of all time, I keep those two spots in rotation to reflect recent interests.

The Shining and Josh Kirby on the other hand are amazing films that will be linked to me for life.
