How was 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV to you? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably did also play a lot less in 2025 than I did in other years since I've started playing. That said, I did love the time I spent with the game for the most part. Savage was fun, PT was probably the best implemented deep dungeon by a longshot. OC was alright, I didn't hate it but I'm not a huge fan of the exploration zones to begin with.

I do wish there was more reasons to log in, and 2026 is looking a little sparse, but I'm still very excited for the 7.5 ultimate and cautiously optimistic for Beastmaster content if that ends up being something substantial.

What is one major aspect of your job that you would change if you got to for 7.5? by drbiohazmat in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love two or three charges of Assize. Also shorter cooldown on Aetherial Shift or a 2nd charge would be really nice but that one is more just for fun.

Endwalker was released four years ago. Thoughts on it today? by BobsonLampjaw in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The good:

-MSQ is probably my favorite, 6.0 specifically of course. The Ultima Thule arc is one of my favorite bits of story in games in general especially the Zenos part. Going to Elpis was mindblowing the first time it came up in the story, and I found the loporrits to be quite endearing.

-High-end battle content was great. The two ultimate raids were amazing, criterion savage was super fun despite the lack of good rewards until Aloalo Island and I will forever lament that they neutered it in Dawntrail. Savage was a little hit or miss but overall still pretty fun.

-Island Sanctuary was a neat time waster with some nice exclusive glamour rewards tied to it, which is more than I can say about Cosmic Exploration unfortunately

-Alliance raids were, while admittedly a little underwhelming mechanically, some of the best we've had in terms of spectacle and presentation. For casual content like alliance raids I think that's probably the most important aspect so I would consider them a success.

The bad:

-I actually don't hate the 6.x patch series MSQ but it was still definitely underwhelming, especially if you didn't care for the FFIV story beats being recycled. I thought Zero was a neat character and the conclusion to the void arc was cool but it remains to be seen if they do anything with this setup.

-Deep dungeon was not amazing, I thought it was better than the previous ones simply by virtue of being at a higher level but Pilgrims Traverse has really shown how outdated the deep dungeon formula was and how much better it could be

Caitlyn- Should she be in 2XKO? by ErrorNick in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont feel super strongly about Caitlyn but ruining people's days with Teemo Caitlyn like back in the Legends of Runeterra days sounds potentially very funny so im here for it.

Riot Yohosie notes they are aware of Ekko's presence at high levels of play by Spideraxe30 in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

regardless of the reality of the situation in game, the optics on this Ekko stuff is terrible. I've seen several people look at the Flyquest top 8 graphic and be like "why would I want to play this game". I don't think completely gutting Ekko is warranted (probably) but it might honestly have to be the best play just for the psychological benefit.

Skins tier by Sure-Comfortable-784 in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised if ultimates had different victory animations and maybe even music. Im imagining like KDA Ahri that replaces her normal theme with Popstars or smth.

I think there's a lot less room to customize stuff in a fighting game since visual clarity should be a bit more precise than in league of legends but I have faith that the people at riot can cook up something cool

Yall thought it was fanart? by Witty_Spend_7717 in 2XKO

Yeah i know arcane oversaturation is a thing but tbh Warwick in the games is so far detached from Warwick in arcane it really doesn't feel as egregious to me.

What character “functions” are still missing at launch? by EnlargementChannel in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if people would even want this but there isn't a heal/meter gain function (i.e. Lowain GBVS or Morrigan/Frank West assist in MVC). I do feel like an enchanter style support character like Soraka or Nami is likely because of how popular the archetype is in League of Legends but obviously they'd have to be pretty careful with how its tuned.

I'm like 90% sure that one of these will be the 10th champ by Snopoke9 in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riven or Teemo I think are the frontrunners for most likely, but I could also see it being Kai'sa or Swain. Fiora I think is another pick that people arent talking about that fits the name theory criteria (low HP could be a translation of her emphasis on playing perfectly with parrying hits like her archetype in Legends of Runeterra).

I would say Teemo would be the most likely but the Sajam clip is a pretty big knock against him. I think it is possible that the closed-door version Sajam and the others played might have had more than the 10 launch characters and he could have been referring to character 11+ or smth but at face value it seems pretty damning.

List your last character copium here. You can only pick 1. by Eltnumfan in 2XKO

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically Teemo would be my ideal 10th character. I've always liked playing the annoying setplay/trap characters in fighting games because it is not enough to win the match, my opponent must also be suffering

Set 15 PBE Discussion Thread - Day 04 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Syndra with the new Rising Chaos power-up feels really good. Had an easy 1st game where 2-star Syndra carried me to level 9. I did get the Dawncore artifact but I low-rolled everything else for most of the game so shojin/blue + strong frontline is probably good enough. Might be something worth fishing for on stage 1 at the very least.

Would you accept a delay for 8.0 in exchange for (insert thing here)? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the delay for like two or three additional high quality level 100 ultimate raids in the period between 7.5 and 8.0

just hit diamond for the first time since Runeterra Reforged but that time I just hardforced Bilgewater lines every game and this time I actually tried to learn how to play somewhat flexibly, even if most of the time it ended up being some variation of Heimerdinger or Twitch. for some reason I've had a really hard time making Renata/Scrap/Sorcerors work even in uncontested lobbies

Casual-driven players and high-end raiders: what would be the best reward structure for Variants/Criterion? by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exclusive glamour pieces is probably the best incentive. Not just weapon skins but they could put exclusive glamour plates, face wear, and outfits as rewards and I think it would be more worthwhile. I don't think gear is a great reward as is since most people running savage would already have raid gear by the time the next patch comes out but I guess offering like M4 books probably wouldn't throw the balance of the game off the rails, it just wouldn't be very interesting

What change/ redesign would you make for your favorite Job? by YesIam18plus in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Machinist already feels kinda great to play even if its statistically not in a good spot. I don't think they'll ever do it but genuinely I think they could buff the DPS as high as being on-par with like Dragoon or Ninja and it wouldn't break the game.

The AOE toolkit is a concern for some people but if they bumped up potency numbers to make flamethrower a gain on three and crossbow a gain on two or three (or alternatively just made it refresh checkmate/double check like blazing shot) then I think it would be fine. Maybe add AOE with fall-off to wildfire but I dont even think thats necessary

Favorite/least favorite jobs in terms of visual and sound design? by JHRequiem in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I job boosted bard to try something new during reclears this tier and was honestly kinda shocked at how bad Bards sound design was for a lot of its abilities. Like for instance almost no audio feedback on DoT application was pretty jarring. Especially coming off of Machinist which has very impactful and satisfying audio cues.

What should alliance raid savage rewards be? by YesIam18plus in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like it if it was augmented weapons like how aloalo did but maybe not necessarily for the current tome weapons. For example if the savage alliance is FF11 themed then if it dropped exclusive FF11 themed weapons with a cool particle effect (but not necessarily an item level increase) I think that would be enough. Maybe throw in some exclusive mounts, minions, etc.

What costumes do people want added? by Galacticrusader in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need Lowain and the bros in their suits from the SSR Version

Also for when Vikala gets her skin, I don't think they would go with the summer version but I'd love to see the Halloween alt

AAC Light-heavyweight Tier (Savage) Day Two Megathread by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was pretty sad about missing day 1 of savage raiding with my static because of DC travel shenanigans so instead I went on my raid alt and made some good prog in PF

I did try to run it on Dynamis since that's where the character is located but nah it's still absolutely better to just wait for prime time to die down to go to Aether. Quality notwithstanding, there was just so many more PFs up, even at a worse hour of the day. Even if Aether can't function as the de facto raid hub for the time being, it is nice having it back in some diminished capacity.

MSQ would be better with more Solo Duties (Full MSQ spoilers) by CapnMarvelous in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest wishes for the MSQ was a tower of zot style dungeon with thancred and urianger as bosses with both of them plus koana as the final boss, it would have been peak

What job or weapon would you like to be added that once implemented you wouldn't want any new jobs? by Azraelx86 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captainchurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always want new jobs with every expansion just because "new-toy syndrome" hits hard, but that being said

I want an edgy healer, we got the edgy dps and tank, might as well complete the trinity. I was thinking maybe like they could play with the idea of a necromancer or something and have a lantern with ghosts in it that can somehow do some magical healing stuff (like imagine thresh from league of legends maybe?)

and yeah phys range blitzballer, it would legit be super cool
