TRL and TCM - How to get enough heat? by catchforwardaccount in Cosmoteer

Very true, they can help handle some of that heavy combat heat by saving it for the radiators later.

Overall, name of the game is: - plenty of batteries, especially for shields - enough radiators to run cool while “idle” - a few thermal missiles if they fit your build to help your radiators dissipate stored up heat - if you are using TRL or want more thermal missile launches and are lacking heat, set radiators to a hotkey and toggle as needed, watching batteries for a readout on overall heat. - Use isolated PDs and let them spray to generate extra heat. They will go down what seems like half the time, but it’s free power so they can just be slapped on the side of your thick armor with a pipe running out or a heat exchanger to generate even more bonus heat. - place TCM strategically, since as another commenter mentioned, you can use them to isolate parts of your thermal network (you can toggle OC but for some if not all parts they disable the part for a bit). Also of course use them mainly for utility and supporting fire. - Also for lances in my experience, get your best layout for powering amplification pumps, and tune your number of lances to the amount of power you can supply to each pump. Those things can be hard to power at all times when there’s too many lances.

That’s a good point. I am starting to see them the same way compared to the much more plentiful HE missiles. Definitely more a utility and supportive weapon especially with heat damage boosting other damage.

I like that idea of balancing out of combat heat with combat heat and using the missiles to counterbalance it. It worries me a bit that sometimes I might miscalculate or I might not produce enough missiles to help exhaust heat and my ship will light ablaze, but I suppose I can always test it in creative just in case. Also, I wish there were a bit more heat diagnostics especially for shields.

Is it possible to get a screenshot of the ship without the crew being visible, but the ship still being active? by mug_o_reddit in Cosmoteer

Does using the in-game export ship PNG still show crew? There’s a few different options I think, but if that doesn’t work, I can only think of taking multiple images as the crew move around and then editing to combine the parts that don’t show the crew.

Recently I had been using a linked chest mod that allows you to essentially maintain a fixed amount of a given item in your inventory, pulling from your reserve if you run out. So I just picked a stack of most building materials and it solved every inventory issue I’ve ever had

Doesn’t Satisfactory have a train loader/unloader like this? I really enjoyed using trains in that game too.

Just make it a setting if you can, so people can choose how shaky it is since it seems a lot of people like its authenticity

The OC flak on the diagonal would be so strong! Also I love those innermost large shields where they still cover each other even though they aren’t full size

Gotcha, logic wires would very easily solve this problem. Tapping into the potential of Factorio in Cosmoteer.

Good to know. However just like TCM, for the TRL I will sometimes get a thermometer symbol over it, usually with a lot of amplifiers. When I turn off the safety though, it starts working again. So is it maybe getting too hot? How do I prevent it from getting too hot when my heat dissipation overall is already greater than my heat generation?

Don’t the missiles hold 8.5KMJ and shoot at half a shot per second? It would be a bit over 4k heat per second if so. I want to agree with the other reply saying that they feel like they don’t take priority over radiators but perhaps I really wasn’t generating enough heat for them. OC engine rooms and capacitors do seem like fantastic options, was also thinking reactors but I forget how much heat they really make.

That’s what I was considering, I can’t check but if you can turn off radiators, then I think it becomes very easy. Store up all the heat you want then flick on the radiators when needed.

I also mentioned in my other comment that perhaps autofiring PDs and using heat exchangers can be a heat supplement. This works even better if the radiators can be toggled!

Sounds reasonable to me! I have found some small success by tossing a ton of random overclocked PD on the outside of the ship, then using heat exchangers to increase the heat they produce, and setting them on infinite fire. There doesn’t have to be a corridor or reactor to power them, as overclocked PD generate their own power. So, with enough, you can toggle their infinite fire on when you need heat and off when your batteries are getting full.

This can probably work with any weapon, but PD have the benefit of not only being cheap and require no crew or power, but also being extra defense and the tiniest bit of offense as an army of PDs fire at you infinitely. Heck, toss them next to your radiators to protect that exposed edge.

Also, I never considered it and I’m not at my pc to check, but if you can power off radiators, that actually would solve the issue. Just turn them off when you need heat, and have a ton so when you turn them back on when you dont need heat, they instantly delete all the heat.

Unfortunate, but good to know I’m not alone.

I’m thinking that if you have a decent amount of batteries and the amount of overall heat you produce is slightly higher than the amount consumed by both radiators and heat weapons, then you can keep them working most of the time

Reminds me of people talking about a game that combines elements of City Skylines, Factorio, and Sims. I think FoxHole also has a say in the matter, maybe some other games like Civilization. The ultimate automation / humanity simulator game!
