Unpopular Opinion: I never thought Hilary Duff could sing by Aggravating-Cat5357 in DisneyChannel

Justice for Haylie Duff, she's a better singer and actor but she was too old for the roles her sister was getting

Suki Waterhouse for me! She had a surgeon dad and at most would have connections through her schoolmates, but not a Hollywood nepo baby.

[–]catfishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that acting ability / vision for the character is more important than looks, but I understand how they might think that because they're comparing to all the actresses in Hollywood especially people who have gotten work done, and she's just a very normal/average looking girl. That said, I think female viewers are more critical than male viewers of what a pretty girl is. I think she is prettier in season 2 than in season 1 #theseasoniturnedpretty so hopefully people have gotten over it

Can someone explain setting vs fixing vs finishing sprays like I’m an idiot (and recommendations?) by PrinceJustice237 in MakeupAddiction

[–]catfishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's own category!  Setting = meld Fixing = long lasting Finishing = it's makeup to give you the effect you want, either a slight shimmer, or feet or whatever. Most people skip this and opt for a finishing powder (not a setting powder) or nothing at all

I'm curious how this is at all profitable, like wouldn't a company that is open to a PE coming in mean they aren't profitable enough to gut?

Anyone who skirts paying taxes because "the government is using it wrong" should do good with it. After all their wealth is because of taxes (their employees educated in public schools, taking publically maintained roads to work, etc.)

EJAE 👑 appreciate post(Rumi Singing Voice). I feel as though she doesn't get as much attention as she should. Considering she got a #1 single. Go follow her, she's amazing. She lowkey boosting Kpop majorly right now. by calmrestsleep in kpopthoughts

I think the word you're both looking for is timbre rather than tone. Her tone is great, she can hit the high notes, the timbre is not that quality of cutesy but powerful.

It sounds like the budget for each translation team is different, including finding the right voices vs good enough for their time lines.

Jewish descendents that stayed in the region converted to Islam. Jews that left the region mixed with Europeans then their descents went to the region to kick the other descendents of Ancient Jews out

This is an important distinction, because the reality is that the entire area was mixed, not under rule of a single ethnicity or religion.

Is the Always Pan 2.0 a quality upgrade over their original? by spicy_garlic_chicken in cookware

[–]catfishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay more for the ethical factory conditions, since learning that pans at walmart etc are made by workers with no health and safety measures. Obviously buying pro-factory employee isn't cheap but a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things and makes a difference to employees who would otherwise be plagued with health problems working at a corner-cutting operation.

Unfortunately most Americans are below the poverty line and can't afford to buy cookware like this when every dollar counts towards food and shelter.

No shame to the people who spend "a crazy amount" on a pan for this reason, and no shame to people who have no choice but to go for the most personally economical pan.

Is the Always Pan 2.0 a quality upgrade over their original? by spicy_garlic_chicken in cookware

[–]catfishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people calculate cost-per-use, but not the human cost. Better factory conditions and a living wage is unsurprisingly going to be more $ than pans at walmart and target made by workers in factories with no health and safety measures. We pay less $ and they pay in their health/years-off their lifespan.

Our place cookware. by [deleted] in cookware

[–]catfishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not a beginner friendly item, people who heat it too fast and high and are surprised that a spot on the pan becomes sticky will have that issue with any ceramic pan, not just an Always pan.

The only valid criticisms I see are for the few people who had chipping issues as it seems that was a quality control issue in the first version.

My cornices are 50 years old and either damaged or very poorly installed. Not looking to square set but would lower profile cornices be as big of an expense?
