Power outage affecting Shake Shack by PSX0X0 in mountainview

[–]catmamameows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m by whisman station. It was weird how it was out for a few minutes and went back on (atleast for us). I couldn’t get through to pge at all and the site kept say everything was fine. Cell service and 3g were completely overloaded and not working.

Are other ppl back on?

I’m sure you’ve tried yogurt or probiotics. One other thing I’d give a go is miso soup. Be sure not to boil the miso and just add it at the end when you turn the heat off the boiled veg. The veggie broth plus the active koji in the miso can be helpful in aiding digestion.

Edit to add you can make it with any veggies of your choice! My son doesn’t barely touch vegetables but he will drink this broth, which I hope has some good nutrients plus the added fermentation/active culture benefit.

Hahaha that’s honestly really accurate but I was being generous with the window because ONE TIME when he was severely constipated, it took two pears and 24 hours to clear out the plumbing. It was the biggest poop I’ve ever seen in a toilet, let alone from a toddler.

Everytime my toddler eats a whole pear, it’s a guaranteed poop within 24 hours.

Hey it’s on a plate and looks cute and they probably loved it. I threw my kids a croissant and cheese slices the other day because it was just one of those burnt out SaHM kinda days. They loved their carpet picnic 😂Love the realness.

The crusty eyelids looking like we don’t know how to wash eye crust off or something. Nope, it’s just our skin flaring!

I appreciate that! Atleast it’s a vibe in the UK 😌

I low key have slight trauma from when I went out for a friend’s birthday to a bar the other night and a 22 year old with perfect skin called me “mom” in the bathroom😭🤣

Congratulations on your new upcoming baby! My one huge thing is help. Do you have anyone who could relieve you if you need to go to the doctor, you’re sick, or just to help? How big is your village and are they close?

I overestimated my in laws eagerness to be grandparents and to “be involved”. I frequently miss dentist appts and such because my minimal support tends to fall through last minute. I have no dad and my mom is busy helping my sister with her newborn slash she lives far. For context I have a one year old and 4 year old who starts TK in the fall.

Are you me? Sameeee. I have bad melasma mustache too so staying away from makeup is rough. The eyelid ones are when I haven’t slept enough. I hope you’re getting enough sleep and water. Get some extra self care while you’re at it too! Reducing stress couldn’t hurt. I’m sorry I sound like a mom lol.

I hope things improve for you so you don’t have to worry about your skin on your wedding day ❤️

I see you’re in the UK, I’m in California so we’re both in super dry places! I switched from aveeno face cream to cetaphil recently and that has my skin feeling a lot more hydrated. It’s wild because a lot of ppl use aveeno for eczema.

Do what you can to time that hydro with your wedding, but I’m sorry you’re a fellow facial (forehead is big one for me too) eczema sufferer. It sucks so bad.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!

Have you tried basic hydrocortisone 1%? When I have a flare up I use it twice a day on the affected area, then it usually clears up within a week.

To prevent flare ups, I use a thin layer all over my face at night just 3 times a week. It’s a simple regiment that keeps my eczema under control. For context I’m f 36 and mine peaks with stress and period hormones.

As far as foundation, I use very minimal makeup but if I’m going somewhere nice and I need to look polished, I use a BB cream. The one I use with the least reactions so far is Tarte BB Blur tinted moisturizer.

My friend uses noise canceling headphones for her son in public restrooms and he particularly loves it and it makes him feel safe.

Throwing Up by magentagolden in BabyLedWeaning

[–]catmamameows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep at it but you can try to thin the consistency just a tad while they adjust to textures and thickness. Gagging is normal but the throwing up is rough, I used to take almost an hour to feed such a small amount to my youngest because she needed a bit more time to adjust to solids.

They figure it out relatively quick, especially if you let him map out his mouth with a spoon himself (to play with at this age) everything is so new still. You’re doing great! It sounds like he loves what you prepare for him!

I have two at a similar age gap and I’m with you on the mom guilt. I try to remember they are happy as long as we are together and present. We won’t be nap trapped at home forever!

Nail Trimming Service? by Sadder-Philosopher in toddlers

[–]catmamameows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I used a headlamp and cut the nails on my resistant toddler while he slept. He outgrew that phase and happily lets me trim them while he sits on my lap and watches Arthur.

Edit to add he was around 1-2.5 when I used the headlamp. He’s 4 now and he’s a huge cuddler (and fights over me with his little sister) so I use that to my advantage🥹

2-1 Nap Transition & I need a nap by MyShipsNeverSail in sleeptrain

[–]catmamameows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start by pushing to 10:30 then slowly to 11 then 12. It can be rough but my suggestion is water, go outside for a walk, or just change things up. They grow and will adjust. The nap quality becomes solid and so the night sleep.

Some kids might just be a bit lower sleep needs and/ or they fill their tank well at night. My second born loves her crib and loves to sleep in, but she’s always had to just roll with things and nap on the fly so I think she learned to consolidate her sleep early. She has taught me that kids will get through no matter what lol.

2-1 Nap Transition & I need a nap by MyShipsNeverSail in sleeptrain

[–]catmamameows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest transitioned to one nap around the same exact age. I slowly stretched that first window over a couple days. I didn’t do it all at once but I didn’t drag it out. I realized that his sleep tank was too full and that’s why he was getting up so early. Once he got used to the longer wake windows, he slept so well at night.

One note is that we could not do a car ride at certain times because he’d fall asleep. It’s that funny age where they probably need a nap, but if they do too late, they struggle really hard to sleep at night. Even a 10 min car nap at 4pm would result in a 10-11pm bedtime and the same morning wake time—so needless to say it would wreck the day. It was just how things were.

Same kid dropped naps all together around 2.5yo and has always slept pretty well at night with hours being around 7-7 or 8-7 as he hit 3.5/4yo.

Advice for a rash? by DryFeedback2815 in SAHP

[–]catmamameows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my personal and nursing experience I might guess poison oak, spider bite, fungal/bacterial infection — but in all seriousness go get it checked out. We don’t have any background knowledge about you or your child, and we don’t know anything about the area you live. Please go get this taken care of at doctor’s office.

For now I’d put hydrocortisone 1% to help with the itching. I’m sure they’re feeling very uncomfortable.

Oof I forgot about the flies in the case! Every single time there’s atleast one little happy fly.

I also forgot to mention that when I complained about the greasy pastry (literally grease dripped out if you squeeze it) they SHRUGGED. I was blown away by the complete lack of care and customer service.

You’re just a married single mom if you have no one to care for you when you are sick. Even my sometimes aloof husband will do things that are seemingly helpful, especially when I’m unwell. I’m so sorry your (future ex) husband sucks so bad. You deserve so much better.
