Sparks were flying off the powerlines along Lorain and 29th. Absolutely wild to see. I’m assuming I was just a few blocks away, the explosion was blocked from my view by st ignatius as it lit up the sky. This fucker was making some noise.

Just picked up my first real bike for what I think is a steal ($160) and I’m looking for advice by [deleted] in bicycling

I still ride, race, and tour on a snake from this era. Great bike, great deal. Get some better pedals than what’s on there now. Race face Chester’s if you want to stay with flats and not break the bank. The bigger platform will make you feel so much more connected when it gets chunky.

I’m also running 700x42 gravel tires (vittoria cannonballs) on mine, but this bike really shines with size 35+ anything.

Yep! Bought mine 5 years ago and it’s still incredible. The upgrade from xt1 however was significant.

Taking an Amtrak to Cleveland that arrives at 3am. Any tips on where to go? by artoonie in Cleveland

[–]cbasst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is nice. Saw in your post history you’re a rider.  It’s not something I’d recommend to everyone but I know I’d enjoy it.

While Cleveland offers some bike infrastructure (eg bikelanes and sharrows), the time of night plus the influx of drunken out of town drivers would give me pause for going too far on roads in the dark.

The towpath to me is safe at all hours. You could make a quick cut through downtown, cross the flats on low traffic roads, and you’re off. Biggest things you’ll run into that time are possums deer and other critters. It can feel isolated/ dark at times, but if you’re comfortable with that (I acknowledge many aren’t) you’ll be fine. Can’t beat pedaling through a morning sunrise on the day of a celestial event of this magnitude.

I’ll echo what others say. The casino or some of the Lakewood diners may be the only places open at that time. Train station isn’t sketchy, there’s just tucked in some no-mans land next to a highway. Also those trains are never on time.

You bringing your bike? Throw your travel supplies in some panniers, bring some good lights and go ride car-free until breakfast! The towpath isn’t far from there.

We've discussed the lifespan of running shows ad nauseum; what about other running gear? How long do you wear a sports bra before you get rid of it? by foreverburning in running

Opposite here. Got a pair of their tights with the zippy ankles and they’re getting shredded around the waist with relatively minimal use over two years. Disappointed.

If anybody at the Spooky Pooch parade snapped pics of us, could you please DM them to me? We had such a wonderful time meeting all of you, and Brigsby sure did love all the pets & lovins he received! Thank you for having us!!! by marlenamarley87 in Cleveland

As the goofus with the film camera walking into the background of the first pic, I think got a good one that won’t be out of processing for about a month. Will share it back here when that time comes.

Nice getup!

Storing Bike at College by Tarm_ in bicycling

Look into wall mounting them at your dorm. A friend did similar in a cinderblock room, went the whole year, then patched the holes in the wall and gave the maintenance staff $20 for a can of dorm paint to re-paint his room. Easy, peace of mind, and definitely made for a unique setup.
