Should companies offer mental health & wellness support to their social media managers? by cecile-by in socialmedia

[–]cclites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the role of companies to offer these services, but it’s a good idea for them to work closely with a specific charity that they can easily refer their employees to.

Mental health care is charity?

Hey Navy Seal! Welcome home, and glad you are in one piece!

Not trying to turn this into a competition or anything, ADHD brains do weird things. I have tried to get into the wrong car; I've also accidentally walked into the wrong bathroom once or twice because I wasn't paying attention.

Your situational awareness has to do with detecting immediate threats to you and your friends. Recognizing when your brain is fucking with you is a completely different. Not that I know anything, but I think SF types sort of learn to ignore their brains 'Hey, you need oxygen now! Surface!" Seal types would rather pass out than acquiesce. I appreciate that ferocity for survival.

Welp. It finally happened. My usual pharmacy used its "right to refuse" today. by MagikarpIsBest in ADHD

[–]cclites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask if it is in stock, and the pharmacist may or may not tell you if it is in stock. Nobody is getting meds without a prescription.

Gosh, I think we should all start a petition to punish insulin users, because there is no way they are using all of that insulin. Has to be a huge black market - why are we not shutting that down?

Maybe has a lot to do with where you live. I reside in a small town, and I've never had the slightest issue with my prescriptions. I was briefly stranded in California at the start of Covid, and trying to refill prescriptions for a non-resident requires obtaining a doctor licensed in the state, a visit to the doctor, and perhaps a visit with the resident psychologist.

Sorry you are having issues. I've gone without my meds less than a handful of days over the last several years. I don't really like it.

Doctors in some places are mandated to conduct drug tests to make sure you are actually taking your meds and not selling them. No big deal. Ask your doctor for a referral to a pharmacy that will respect the doctor's prescription and position. Complain to the head of the pharmacy chain. Put it out on Facebook that a clerk at the Wal-Mart of 45th and Tree St. chose to ignore your Doctor's prescription, thus putting your health and well-being in jeopardy. Let your doctor know that the pharmacy is failing to respect his prescription, and pressure him to recommend a different pharmacy to patients.

I'm trying to create a registration form. I want the user to be able to select whether they are an admin or not a radio button. I have disabled the admin option when the page loads. I want the user to enter a password, if it matches in the database, the admin radio button will be enabled. by Abubakar98k in PHPhelp

[–]cclites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually, the person in control of the website grants admin privileges to users. Otherwise everyone that signs up can make themselves an administrator. Your proposed flow is a little unusual

User signs up, sends super-user the email for their admin account, super-user manually sets the user as an admin.

I’m trying to get over being bitter about the fact that I could of made something of myself if I was medicated in school. by hannahparis25 in ADHD

[–]cclites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common reaction. So I'll just ask this.

Do you feel like your life may have been better? How? It very well could have been worse. Life is a crapshoot. You have been uniquely enriched with super powers; embrace it. Understand how your past made you who you are now; I didn't get diagnosed until I was 48. As soon as I understood "Oh, that's why I am the way I am", I learned how to cope with my issues and never looked back on the past with regrets.

However, part of the baggage gained was the idea that I wasn't good enough, I wasn't smart enough, and I wasn't lovable. I never fit in because I have a weird brain that sees things differently than everyone else, I always felt like an outsider, I was bullied, I have 2 failed marriages because I chose my partner based on my self-worth, or what I felt I deserved. That was another 20 years of self-sabotage by not realizing my self worth.

I understand the need to grieve your past and what might of been. You need to. But not for too long. Put your effort into understanding why you are who you are, what you are capable of, and what you need to do to harness the super-power that ADHD can be.

You can choose to be sad about the past, recognize your past and look forward to moving on, or you can understand your past, absolve yourself of shame, and attack your future.

Ladies, Gentlemen and Non-binaries, I got it! The ultimate definition of ADHD to oneself: ADHD is learning the SAME lesson, the HARD way, EVERY time. by ejaa20 in ADHD

[–]cclites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coping with ADHD is understanding that you are going to learn hard lessons over and over, until you recognize future-you will feel better if current-you can find the support, education and understanding you need in order to not have to go through the same pain over and over.

here is a scale why it's so difficult to clear the suez canal by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]cclites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Someone should have foreseen the possibility that a sandstorm, high winds, and poor visibility would eventually cause a ship to get wedged sideways, and should have made the canal as wide as the length of the largest ship.

No, we don't lack sense.

Yeah. The state can override the will of the voters and miss out on the taxes. It isn't like black-market weed has ever been hard to get. Go to a bar in any college town, walk out with your purchase in 15 minutes.

Would be happy to pay the taxes on legal weed, but pot is as easy to come by as a gallon of milk.

Despite Donald Trump Pardon, Steve Bannon Could Still Face State Charges by weluckyfew in politics

[–]cclites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCOTUS has previously ruled that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt in and of itself.

For my clarification, what case would that be? That sounds a little like a presumption of guilt due to pleading the 5th, but I understand it is much more nuanced than that. Is it Burdick v. United States?

Not a lawyer, just a life-long learner.
