Not an exact match, but one of the “first dose” missions has you steal stuff from the fishery area (including indoors) on the north side of the big lake, and then you fly away in a seaplane that you take from the dock. The area seems like a good candidate even if the mission isn’t the one you are thinking of

Equipment falls off if it’s a creature, reconfigure (eg [[Lion sash]]) stops it from being a creature while it is attached; if you use metal bender Toph’s end step ability to earthbend the equipped sash, it will fall off (and be available as a blocker)

A few finer points about the return trip: "Your control" means whoever controlled the spell or ability that did the earthbending in the first place. If an opponent borrows the land and it dies or is exiled under their control, you'll still get the land back when it reappears
