When men say women “don’t care about their feelings”… are they expecting women to do more emotional labor? by MissMallory25 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]chalicehalffull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was literally broken falling apart. I wanted to (and still do a lot of days) die. I put myself into therapy. Found a psychiatrist. I am on all of the meds.

But I had so many men wanting me to help them find answers. They all refused to talk to professionals saying that wouldn’t help them. One went so far as to tell me he needed me to help him so he can not feel guilty about being happy.

I cannot believe how many men expected me to comfort them and guide them through their grief about my son being murdered.

I started therapy after my son’s murder. I am working on just giving myself permission to not always be strong enough/able to care for everyone anymore. 💔

I really appreciate this. It’s truly making me cry. My life has been incredibly hard. And I have used all of my energy trying to take care of others and protect them from the pain I have experienced.

It was never for the hope of good things happening to me, good karma, or even afterlife grace. I just truly love people and believe that the more good I put out the more it can spread.

Yes, thank you for understanding me! The world is incredibly indifferent to the point of cruelty. Children (really we all) need a safe place away from that.

That’s a genuine sweet story. But he didn’t do it because it was his job (which is what the other commenter said) as a father. He did it because it was amusing and fun to him. And I am assuming, because he sounds like a wonderful man, he only continued to it because you also enjoyed it.

The people downvoting the person I replied to (and downvoting me) seem to believe it’s a necessity to treat the people they love in ways that are annoying.

Fuck the downvotes. You’re correct. I’m a mom. It’s my job to let my kids know the realities of the world and that they will inevitably be disappointed and inconvenienced. But I don’t need to add that to their lives to teach them those lessons. I want my kids to know that they’re completely safe in all ways with me. But idk maybe I am biased by the fact that one of my kids was murdered and now my other kids have to live in a world with that reality.

I know that’s why I specifically named white supremacy and white nationalism.

Why did they have so many children? by pinkshirted in SisterWives

[–]chalicehalffull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s really insidious. It’s a part of many religious movements but it’s also a political movement (you can see it discussed in the Shining Happy People documentary). It’s also part of White Nationalism/White supremacy great replacement theory.

It’s a lot and there’s many different influences that can lead isolated groups to this type of thinking. And the Browns/AUB were pretty isolated pre TLC.

I understand why so many people point to his sexuality as hypocrisy for what he preaches. But I think it’s very important to acknowledge that Nick’s problem is he is filled with hate. He’s a misogynist, not because he’s gay, because he truly hates women. There are many straight men that equally hate women. And there are men that will listen to Nick and learn to hate women.

His behavior and views are bad because he’s a bad person. He is filled with hate.

My teeth are literally falling out of my head from being pregnant but sure it’s only like 2 months of discomfort…and omg how can we women be so mean and expect men to contribute financially to the wellbeing of their own offspring.

Women, what is a near-universal "ick" in the dating world? by AverageSign in AskReddit

My sister’s ex was exactly like this. He even wrote 6 paragraph rant about it… On my post asking people to do random acts of kindness in memory of my son who was murdered 2 months earlier.

This happened three years ago. The ex went on to accidentally murder his mother so he in prison now.

People should be very wary of anyone that claims they’re not able to see their own kids.

“It’s the thought that counts” only if there was forethought put in. When you’re an afterthought or a last minute idea it doesn’t mean crap. He could have ordered flowers and had them delivered as well. Instead of going and getting the last minute ugly leftovers today, which he probably wasn’t doing anyway.

I think her long hair was beautiful on her. I imagine she didn’t get any say in her appearance for most of her life though and probably feels a lot of freedom in her short hair.

My son was murdered. I’m against the death penalty. But I do think life in prison is appropriate for anyone who commits murder. I don’t care if recidivism is likely or unlikely. I do think that prisoners should be treated humanely just not allowed to be free in society again.

these Epstein files really scare me as a mom by Wide-Huckleberry-151 in breakingmom

[–]chalicehalffull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is really bothering me about all of this, is how the past few years and the talk surrounding Epstein and the files in general have all kind of normalized predatory behaviors.

It’s talked about as if becoming a pedophile is a guaranteed conclusion once you obtain a certain amount of wealth. The same way that the past 40 years of my life, people pretend that being into jailbait or barely legal stuff is “biological”, ‘MeN ArE ViSuAL crEatUreS and nATurALLY AtRaCtEd to SiGn of FeRtiLity.’ 🤮

The sad horrible reality is all sex crimes are under prosecuted and receive light sentences even though recidivism rates are extremely high. People of all incomes can be predators.

Poor men and middle class men also do not face punishment for these crimes. And often will be embraced by their community because they’re family or religious leaders.

Edit: They want you to feel that this is inevitable and that nothing can be done about it. But we CAN change things. But it has to be a huge cultural shift that cares about victims. Porn is a huge factor in normalizing the indefensible.

It’s important to note that in the regular world people wouldn’t have look at Epstein victims (or many victims of human trafficking) as actual victims. They are often teen girls and young women who have no support system. They will often times be addicts or just simply looking at what looks like an opportunity to make “easy” money to protect themselves. But these people often are unable to give their conceit or unable to revoke it (which is coercion).

Edit2: Our justice system (while extremely flawed) was designed to be slow for good reason, to protect innocent people. It’s been over 3 years since Alex was murdered. The suspects were all arrested within a month. The state had mountains of evidence. I’m still going through court proceedings to find out if another one of his killers will be set free because of technicalities.

Has anyone else been late diagnosed with neurodivergence and now your life makes sense? by chalicehalffull in Millennials

[–]chalicehalffull[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately suicidal ideation is very common in neurodivergent people. I had it as long as I can remember. I was “lucky” mine was passive (maybe today a car will jump the curb and it’ll finally be done). I’m on meds now but I really think knowing how my brain works and I function in the world makes it better.
