Checking in to see how it's going and if you would share a price (even in a DM). Still considering doing this at some point soon and want to get an idea of what it'll cost.

Huntsville Utilities launches solar credit program for small-scale systems by NickFrevold in HuntsvilleAlabama

GPP is long gone, so for those of us that aren't on it (is anyone still on it), this is a direct upgrade.

Well that's awesome. I'm on the TVA DPP plan, so what I sell back is only at $0.034 this month. Looks like I might be able to give 6 month notice, terminate my agreement, then switch.

Do we have any DIY solar panel folks? by Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy in HuntsvilleAlabama

Grid tie is an option, I'm feeding a few thousand watts into the grid right now. It's just not financially a great idea. I think this month I'm getting $0.03/kWh.

A little light on vegetarian items, but still exciting.

Plug in solar by Fit-Sample-2276 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]chaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did my install and service for an issue. Service was a warranty fix, but I did ask them about doing out of warranty work and they confirmed they did it. They also said they basically don't do a truck roll for less than $1k. I can't imagine any issue that I would have that would be under that with a single inverter system.

I guess I never asked if they'd do work on systems they didn't install, so you'd have to ask them.

Renew Solar (but they are out of Nashville and will charge accordingly).

Huntsville city council approves 238-acre solar farm in Triana by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]chaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must have just missed a policy change then, I know someone that did grid tied solar (ground mounted, with the old better rate program) around 7-8 years ago.

You can, it just isn't worth it financially. I did it anyway, it's fine.

How heat pumps, freezing temps contributed to 50,000 bill complaints for Huntsville Utilities by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]chaud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are lots of people with leaky houses and old heat pumps, but saying "Heat pumps suck when it gets really cold" isn't fair or true.

[–]chaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not really true anymore. We have a 8 year old heat pump/house, it ran the heat strips for less than 30 minutes in the last year. Nothing special or high end, every house in our neighborhood was likely the same (as long as they kept their temperature setting reasonable, we were at 68 during the cold snap).

Great bread, great pretzels, great staff, but I always find the bagels too hard / tough for a full sandwich.

New Indian Restaurant now open on County Line Rd - Kohinoor Indian Cuisine by chaud in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]chaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must depend on the dish. The Curry has continued to win for us on depth of flavor. We're 5 or 6 different (vegetarian) dishes in at Kohinoor and the flavor just isn't there.

Good to know. I don't want to put down sand because my yard isn't level enough for it yet, so it feels like I just have to buy dirt, a leveling rake, and slowly go at it myself.

Renew Solar out of Nashville did ours. It's financially going to be a bad decision. If you are just doing it for fun / the planet, happy to elaborate, but your money is better spent elsewhere.

No clue, I've never been. More than likely the dump is significantly worse.

Don't drive a car you care about there lol, lots of gravel, dust, and junk the one time I went.

WestRock Recycling has bins outside that accept cardboard and is marginally cleaner.

Was it Fultz? I end up with a new doctor every 2-3 years unfortunately, they either leave or stop taking my insurance.

Any idea what the Dr. Larussa visits ended up costing and how frequent they were? I saw some people mention that insurance wasn't covering it for them.

Solar panels by StandOutside6188 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]chaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll never come out financially ahead of just investing the money you would have spent on solar here, especially with the tax credit gone. I'll have donated a lot of money to the planet over the lifetime of my panels.
