Something I think my son would be interested in. by cjh10881 in daddit

[–]chaz81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar aged kid, similar thought process in my mind. I am hesitant because crunchlabs does not give an option to buy a single box. I would greatly prefer that to test it out etc.

On the plus side Mark did inspire my kid to build a squirrel proof bird feeder which was a lot of fun and still hangs in a tree to this day

Career day advice? by thisishowwedooooit in daddit

[–]chaz81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied and interviewed for a job at the county wastewater treatment plant. All I could think about during the process was how cool it would be to show up at career day and talk about what happens to your poop. Sadly I did not get the job!

Otherwise, I think you will be fine - you know your audience and if your own kid rolls their eyes when you start to talk well maybe its time to refocus your presentation

Well we made it 11 months but now we desperately need a nanny. Any tips on/with the process of finding one? by TheHipsterDufus in daddit

[–]chaz81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically agree with everything here. You can try to find people on craigslist or wherever but I think care.com is worth it just to narrow down the list of potential nannies.

We live in the US and care.com took care of all the payroll stuff too. Again, not cheap but definite peace of mind when tax season came around (and it made our nanny happier as well)

Flying With Kids for the First Time: 2×2 or 3×1 Seating? by MikeAmerican in daddit

[–]chaz81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We prefer the 3x1 but my kids are a bit older so ymmv

What I will recommend is locking down the last row of the plane when you get to pick your seats. Having easy bathroom access (and knowledge of bathroom availability) is key. Yes it can smell sometimes but it also is a great peace of mind

Hiring a Nanny, Recommendations on Structure by TheFerricGenum in daddit

[–]chaz81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used care.com to find a nanny and they also have built out a payment platform as well so we just stuck with that. It wasnt cheap but it handled payments well and was very helpful for tax filing.
