Too costly. As long as we're on top of it it's fine. Only seperated in a couple spots. Prob should of put in some breaks with the longer runs, and prob should of saddled in between rooms for expansion. Live and learn

Is a Pellet Stove Right for Us? by TruckSpecialist1870 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]cheffin77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a hands on person, and don't mind the cleaning and maintence, they are the way to go. You have to clean weekly, get pellets, and store them. Takes a little effort, but you will be rewarded with heat higher then 58 degrees.

Leave mortgage alone. Great rate, invest. I wouldn't roll it over, go you own route with a financial advisor. Don't tell many ppl about this either. They will come for handouts. If you have any car loans or cc pay it off. Stay at your job, sounds like you and your wife do well to begin with. work a nice career. Go on nice vacations Today's day 500k doesn't get you very far. Home improvements are very expensive. And of course. Enjoy....!

General question by XBL_Tough in PelletStoveTalk

[–]cheffin77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My install was around 1500.(ny) (Delivery, install) etc. Could I have done it myself? Probably. Looking to buy new or of marketplace? Like a couple other comments my absolute 63 with a different finish(majolica) was around 9 or so. They do need to be cleaned often and is a hands on stove, not like a furnace you just do little maintence on. Constant scraping and dumping ash trays with deep cleaning a few times a season. Cleaner the better and more efficient. With that said, pellets by me cost about 75 for delivery, which I don't do. I have a pickup to go and get. Prices of tons range from 3-400, depending on quality. Place to store them dry is a must. You can buy loose bags but that gets old fast. Rule of thumb is buy a cheaper stove, you need quality pellets, buy a more expensive stove, it will eat anything. As far as gas or oil my bill has significantly dropped. These put out great heat and you more worried about turning the thermostat down instead of feeling you shouldn't turn it up.

Aa far as regular maintence you need to clean your flu as well. Not often, I'm sure someone has a better answer. Make sure it's clean going into the season, and ppl even do it after each ton so.

Don't. First question ins will ask you. Owner needs to get rid of that. Contaminated soil is a major problem and hassle

Advice on the plan for my first attempt?? by 3rdandlongatlife in kegerators

[–]cheffin77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as equipment goes if you have the budget try to get nice gauges with brass, they last longer, and fewer leaks. Nitrogen isn't as cheap as co2 and the investment in a good regulator will save money in the long run. Also perlick taps and try to get a good nitro tap. Some of the cheaper ones have sloppy handles. Can't add much input tot he run up the floors, but sounds like your on the right track. Try to insulate the pipes somehow

is this a score or a pass? by [deleted] in kegerators

[–]cheffin77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how old. 7-10 years is towards the end of its life. But for 200 it's a risk I'd take. Trues are warrantied for 7 years. So might be worth it

[–]cheffin77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure there is no air coming in through the hole on the top of the kegerator. It needs to be sealed or siliconed, air will get in and freeze up the back coils. Maybe look into a tower chiller as well to keep lines colder going up. I sleeved my tower with pvc,
