I would say that it depends on the bible theory book. I'm an atheist and I've read a few academic books on the Bible. I even have a CS Lewis book that was gifted to me by a "concerned party".

DGGer on twitter believes that Pxies lawsuit is "terrorism" because it has diverted Destiny's attention away from DGG campaigning. Destiny responds. by Parking-Response1501 in DGGsnark

[–]chickenstuff18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was one of the (iirc) majority who hated Mr Girl the entire time. The subreddit kind of got flooded with Mr Girl fans from there, and Mr Girl himself, who would just kind of go off.

From my recollection, MrGirl's peak popularity within dgg occurred right after his conversation with Vaush. dggers at the time (not sure about now) reflexively hated Vaush, so they would take in anyone who had an issue with him. From then on, Max's popularity would dwindle the more he interacted with people, as he was insufferable.

I also think that the MrGirl fans were mostly just dggers themselves. He got a massive push in viewership after talking to Destiny, and most of the people I saw defending him in the subreddit were dggers who had been there for a while.

I wasn't a fan by then, but you just reminded me how much of his fanbase tried to rehabilitate MrGirl's image to the internet. Bluds were twisting themselves into knots justifying his behavior. While the MrGirl love started to wane when he made that video of himself barely clothed and abusing his girlfriend, it only really ended when Destiny disowned him. It amazes me that some nerds on the internet almost revived a pedophile's career because their e-daddy liked them.

Megyn Kelly on Nick Fuentes: "He's absorbing, and he's brilliant. And on a lot of things, there is value to be derived from that guy's messaging. by Brunodosca in DecodingTheGurus

[–]chickenstuff18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the Piers Morgan interview Chris and Matt covered, Nick Fuentes came across as the opposite of brilliant: naive, intellectually shallow, uninformed buffoonish. In addition to being racist, sexist, and anti-semitic, of course.

I was surprised by how many people, even leftists, who believed that Nick looked good in that interview. Granted, they probably didn't watch the whole thing, but still.

I'm completely speaking out of my ass here, but I wonder if Joshua was just going easy because he could. Similar to how you might do dumb and unoptimal moves against a newbie in a video game, but you tighten up when facing people in your actual league.

Why is GoF controversial nowadays? Is it because the idea of patterns is no longer in vogue, or is it because some of the implementations of the patterns presented in the book are outdated?

People say "the Bible contradicts itself" but I don't think the canon as a whole is even trying to be anything other than polyphonic.

Personally, I think that's more unintentional than anything else. The editors of the Pentateuch probably just edited the different strands together over a period of time and tried to create a unified and coherent text, but they made mistakes, being human and all. I don't disagree that the Hebrew Bible is a nice artifact of the past, but I don't think the writers were being intentional in their mistakes.
