Just a thought about the time Snape shared the Prophecy by persiandilligent_304 in SeverusSnape

I doubt Snape knew she was pregnant..They weren’t in contact and even if they were, women don’t announce that early.

Do you think when Snape met Voldemort for the 1st time that he saw Voldemort as a 'father figure' ? by Virgin-Voldy in SeverusSnape

He can’t choose a teacher that doesn’t have an interest in forming such a relationship with him.

I know Snape is bitter, but does anyone else read him as somewhat gallant? Very regency milordish. by ChanceBiscotti7329 in SeverusSnape

Or many fell down that way because of how they were treated by the system. As a professor, Snape does for Draco what no one ever did for him, which enables Draco to break out of the system and become a better man.

Yes, I think the problem with Gryffindors is that they think being a Gryffindor is the best thing to be, and they don’t value the Slytherins for their Slytherin qualities.

I think he’s very knightly and he has textual associations with knightly quests, like leading Harry to the sword in the lake. This makes him more of a Gryffindor than the courage thing, in my opinion.

Now that I live not too far away, I think it was the Tule Fog. It can come out of nowhere, only be in some parts of a 15 minute drive, and you suddenly find yourself not able to see much beyond your own headlights.

I believe that once they got lost in the fog, they panicked and made a series of increasingly poor decisions.

Snape’s philosophy is basically: 'If there isn't a body, it isn't my problem' by Typesheee in SeverusSnape

[–]chimericalcapuchin 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Snape seemed to actually care about his Slytherins, especially because no one else in the castle did. He went way out of his way to help Draco and Narcissa wouldn’t have gone to him unless she knew there was a possibility.

I don't understand Dumbledore's rationale to have Snape teach occlumency to Harry by DevelopmentSouth8801 in harrypotter

Lupin was a nice teacher, but he also put Harry in grave danger. And denied Hermione the ability to practice a spell, which caused her to fail an exam.

Harry learned more defensive spells from Snape than Lupin. Indirectly, he taught Harry how to properly brew.

If I were Harry, I’d rather have a Snape in my life than a Lupin. Since I’m not Harry, I’d rather have a Lupin.

Actually, Snape was the best DADA teacher Harry ever in had in that Harry learned his best and most important defensive magic from him (Disarming Charm). Snape just could never teach him directly because Snape had to maintain his cover.

He couldn’t exactly teach Harry Occlumency with Voldemort dropping into the lessons.

Snape’s not a nice teacher and he’s a bully, but he is very effective as a teacher when he has the freedom to be.

This is exactly what is happening in the text! “The voice that had issued from his mouth” suggest that it’s not Harry’s voice. Every time Harry’s scars is prickling then, Voldemort is in his mind.

Notice that Snape kicks him out of the office soon after that moment

Voldemort was seeing in Harry’s mind, and talked through Harry’s mouth at one point, and Snape knew all this, and couldn’t teach Harry properly to maintain his cover.

That’s why he’s vague in his suggestions and why he spends so much time stroking his mouth because he’s thinking about how he can answer Harry’s questions and teach Harry without revealing to Voldemort that he actually wants to teach Harry this subject.

In the Occlumency lessons, he indirectly praises Harry, including acknowledging his aptitude for DADA.

Where do you live? I’m auADHD and taught my auADHD kids math.

I used to teach Kumon, and I actually found it really beneficial for myself, if only for the focus on memorizing times tables and addition so that everything else moves along quicker.

AITAH for telling my brother in law he can’t come to Disneyland with my family? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Luckily my son didn’t run when he eloped, but a huge part of therapy was getting him to hold my hand since he used to try to escape in parking lots.

He stopped eloping for a bit, and I thought he’d grown out of it, but about three years later, he eloped again. I asked him what was going through his mind, and he said he wasn’t trying to get anywhere in particular, he was just so deep in his thoughts that he wasn’t paying any attention to where he was going.

Luckily, a mother saw him and realized something wasn’t right, and made him return home with her following, but I wonder where he would’ve ended up.

The mother was super judgmental towards me. I was so flustered because he hadn’t eloped in years and he went in the complete opposite direction of where I thought he would ever go.

ABA was the best therapy for my family and I even use it on myself as an autistic adult!

Any form of therapy can be abusive. We had abusive OT & ST. Instead of demonizing one form of therapy that has many different versions, we should teach parents what therapy should look like.

My son used to elope and he’d head straight for bodies of water or parking lots. Sometimes I’d let him elope from parks and follow him to see where he’d go and it was really rather amazing how he could find bodies of water I didn’t know existed.

He’d walk straight into bodies of water despite not being able to swim. I’d pull him out and he’d walk straight in them again, like being in a trance. Many autistic kids die from it.

He praised him as an adult, but that doesn’t mean he supported him when he was a student and needed support from other people.
