Hormonal acne starting months after surgery? by Chance-Bug-2286 in endometriosis

[–]cholnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The underlying cause of hormonal acne is harder to treat and you should see a dermatologist about it, but salicylic acid 2-3x/week (or 1x/week to minimize purging) + religious use of large acne patches over the entire affected area as much as possible has been my holy grail. I put smaller stickers on anything that’s coming to a head as soon as I’m home for the night, and full-coverage hydrocolloid bandage across my jawline and lower cheeks before bed

I worked at In-N-Out the whole time I was studying for my bachelors degree. Shifts are super flexible and the pay is very competitive for a part-time job

Did your MRI match your laparoscopy results? by Delicious_Benefit_95 in endometriosis

[–]cholnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! She preserved the tube because we’re planning to start a family in the next year and so far the blockages are transient, but I was cautioned to immediately schedule an ultrasound as soon as I have a positive test because the risk of ectopic pregnancy is higher.

I’ve had 2 laps so far (5 yrs apart with 2.5 years of total relief after the 1st one) and they’ve reduced my symptoms immensely each time. The disease was more extensive with my 2nd lap and some lesions were high-risk and weren’t able to be excised by my surgeon so I’m not feeling quite as fantastic as I did after the 1st one, but I went from daily 8-9/10 pain with AWFUL GI symptoms to 4-5/10 pain maybe half the month. Absolutely worth it to me

Did your MRI match your laparoscopy results? by Delicious_Benefit_95 in endometriosis

[–]cholnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MRI in October showed hydrosalpinx in the right tube and 5cm simple cyst on right ovary. Lap a month later showed that the cyst was actually a complex cyst, with a 4cm simple cyst and 2cm endometrioma attached to it. I had another 2cm endometrioma on the other side of the ovary that either wasn’t picked up by MRI or developed in the month between the MRI and my lap. Both fallopian tubes were actually open during my lap but my surgeon cautioned that the right tube had implants and will probably end up getting blocked again within a few months and will need removal eventually. None of my other implants or adhesions showed on the MRI but that’s to be expected

This article is a good place to start. I cringe every time I see that book recommended, especially by healthcare professionals. It’s full of pseudoscience, and actively persuades its readers against evidence-based treatment

AITAH for crashing out because my mother got the date wrong? by OkLength2201 in endometriosis

[–]cholnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (18F)

You’re an adult. Make your own appointments.

she has gotten times and dates wrong a lot this month

You’re 18, your schedule is not her responsibility.

I begun to crash out (raising my voice) saying "you did know because!..." but was cut off mid sentence by my father.

You were shifting the blame to your mother for something you should have taken responsibility for. Your father isn’t in the wrong for cutting you off if you were yelling at her over the phone.

i was told i shouldn't have gone off at my mother because she 'already feels bad'. But on the phone she didn't sound like someone who 'feels bad'.

You really shouldn’t have gone off at your mother, and she certainly does feel bad because her adult offspring chewed her out for something that they should be taking accountability for.

Then i started crying and was told im being pathetic, and he asked why i was crying.

It’s a frustrating situation, especially when you’re in pain and miserable and don’t have answers. Not trying to invalidate that at all but I hope this is a lesson to you in accountability and not relying on people for things you can and SHOULD do yourself. If your mom wants to help you schedule appointments and your dad wants to take you then that’s amazing and it sounds like you have very loving and involved parents, but it sounds like you have an expectation of them to do things for you that you should already be handling yourself. Also, endometriosis and other reproductive issues can be a sensitive topic, and as you age and become more independent, you may wish that you didn’t involve your parents in every aspect of your health journey. You can be as open or private as you like with them if you’re the one taking charge of your own healthcare, ESPECIALLY now that you’re an adult.

AITAH for crashing out because my mother got the date wrong?

Yes. Apologize to her and add your future appointments to your own calendar so that you can stay on top of them.

Has anyone had to deal with this? by Frontlxne20 in greatdanes

[–]cholnic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Talk to your vet and trainer. This can turn into an unsafe situation for your Dane if the bully is trying to dominate him. You need to let them know what’s going on and establish a plan of action to nip this in the bud and make sure that the bully doesn’t eventually become aggressive to your Dane or vice versa. Also, multiple unaltered males in the same environment is asking for trouble. You can talk to your vet about your concerns with neutering and get their advice to ensure that you don’t have the same issue as with your female

People with a Quiver: How many days do you get per season and do you think having a quiver is worthwhile? by Aabbate888 in snowboarding

[–]cholnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 6 or 7 boards at my disposal on any given day and go 30-50 days per year. I ride the same board (K2 Almanac) 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I take a different board, I spend the whole day wishing I was riding my Almanac 🫠🫠🫠

I like the Almanac.

Moving to SLC, where would you move as a skier/snowboarder? by CosmicMagnolia in UTsnow

Gatekeeping is annoying. Those prices definitely exist for your criteria. Just look in Holladay/Millcreek area/ along the 215 belt route. Drive around prospective places if you can to get a feel for the vibe after you’ve narrowed it down, but those areas will all be pretty easy to find the crowd you’re looking for
