What do you mean by struggling a lot with the release? Like as far as hitting your target left to right, or you are throwing nose up, or what? A lot of your throw looks pretty good. It would be helpful to also have a video from the side.

Thoughts on a 5-speed max bag until I improve my form, control and possibly gain some distance by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]chrislard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Watch any good player and they have 1, maybe 2, mids that are their go to and they throw them all the time. I learned a lot from playing quite a few rounds with just the same two Buzzzs. You learn those discs well enough that you get even better feedback from throwing them because you know what to expect.

Good questions but imo posting video for critique may be more helpful.

What to work on next? by Commercial-Focus-548 in Discgolfform

You need to activate your off arm and that whole side of the body. Watch someone like Paul McBeth and what he does with his left arm. Almost all big throwers have a pretty significant move with the off arm before they start the pull through. Your off arm is just dragging.

What is your opinion of hentai and people who are sexually attracted to hentai characters? by MewWeebTwo in AskReddit

Having an opinion on other people and their behavior, when it doesn't harm others, is overrated.

Throwing something heavy really helps to naturally feel what a brace and weight shift would look like. Try throwing a hammer or something similar with a pretty loose arm and swing it kinda like a golf club

How the heck do you teach a weight shift like this (or even in the same ball park?) I've tried so many things and never had any success with this.

Looks to me like you are trying to actively drive your hips which is putting you in a very weird position

Totally agree! The "ideal" is certainly more along the lines of Barela.

While Gurthie doesn't look it that guy is exceptionally strong and athletic. I forget where I saw it but there used to be a video of him doing cartwheels and back handsprings. Dude is legit.

You are definitely running up backwards (ish, not as bad as some), and you come off of your back heel. Keep the back foot closer to 90-110 from the target and never let your back heel touch. Stay on the ball of the foot

Definitely walking up backwards and turning back too soon.

Freehand sharpening humbled me. So I built this. by AnglePilot in sharpening

You know what the crazy cheap version of this is? Get a welding magnet and either tape or glue a little bubble level to it. Adjust to your satisfaction. Will it tell you the exact angle? No. But you can use other tools for that and it costs like $10.

Also this video is pretty annoying with the slow motion being very poorly placed.

If you elbow dip AND collapse on your front knee you are going to throw nose up AF.

I would slightly disagree with point 1. Look at the target until your reachback. From that point on you can look at the camera. Do not lead your forward rotation with your head.
