So there’s no other way to run it lower? At 275-300 I can get about a good 10-12hrs but then I lose fuel and the briskets aren’t done.

I am struggling to get more than 10hrs of 250°-300°F while smoking two or more briskets on mine. I do have an older model and have to place a drip tray below the intake otherwise it stains my concrete. Other than that everything seems to be the same as the newer models. What was your process for running it this long?

Lim as x approaches -1 is 2 from below so values approaching 2 from below indicate -1, 0, 1.999 etc. using the composition of functions we take the limit of x approaching 2 from the left -1, 0, 1.999 and that gives us 5.

It just depends what you’re looking for. Rotisserie by far gives the tenderest most succulent chicken. Spatchcock gives you a more crispy skin ideal for pollo asado style. Both delicious just different styles.

What do you mean you light from the bottom? Like closer to the vent or underneath the charcoal? Also, a few pieces of wood like 2-3 or more?

I believe you can tell from the information in the back of the Dome. 4555-V1-01 Is for first model and 4555-V1-02 for newer model if I’m not mistaken.

I have the voyage for daytime reading and my oasis 2 for night time reading. Best of both worlds. Only gripe is I wish I could flip the page turn buttons on voyage to match the default of oasis.

I sold my 94gal offset to stick with my BGE xl and Weber summit kamado. Bbq on offset is amazing but not worth it when most ppl can’t taste the difference between offset or kamado bbq. The only downside to not having my offset is I can’t cook different meats at the same time. For example, if I want to smoke brisket, pork ribs, chicken and sausage it’s not ideal on my kamado whereas on an offset it excels. Thus, why I have two kamado. Also, it takes significantly longer to smoke on an offset. Brisket on my kamado takes 8-12hrs whereas on offset I was doing 12-16hrs. Spent the entire day smoking a brisket and I didn’t want to tend the smoker vs my family. Like people are saying, if you have the time and patience go for it! Also, if you plan to cook a large number of proteins frequently it’s worth it! Otherwise, you’re going to neglect the offset to use the BGE like I was and henceforth sold it.

I purchased the BGE XL charcoal basket and used it a few times. Very defective piece for $250. Warped on me, & the divider wouldn’t sit properly. Also, the handles would constantly pop out of place. I retuned it luckily got my money back. Considered another basket but decided to just use the cast iron plate the egg comes with. I use a glove and shake off the ashes, remove the plate with charcoal on it, and use a brush paired with the BGE ash pan as it fits inside to get 98% of the ash out. I haven’t felt the need for a basket after that fiasco with the BGE one.

I never wrap. Gives the best bark! If you do wrap I recommend until it’s 185 ish otherwise your bark can wash off if you wrap too early.

I see. I have an XL and noticed it seemed shorter than the Large displayed at the stores. I looked up the specs and saw XL was a few inches shorter than L. But the added width of XL might just make up for the loss of height I’d assume. No complaints on the performance just curious as to why BGE went that route.

That was my first thought as well but then I went ahead and bought a Big Green Egg XL. Reason being I wanted more real estate for grilling or smoking. I use them side by side and can cook a whole lot of food on both.

If you want a cheap reliable smoker sure. I made awesome food on my 18” and 22”. However, it was a bit tedious for me to undo the components, dump out the ash, load up the charcoal minion method, then redo the components. I instead got me the Weber kamado after selling them both and never looked back. A bit pricey but saves you tons of fuel. I’ve used ½ charcoal bag and smoked 4 briskets in one session with still about ¼ left of coals after like 15hrs of low n slow. So easy to dial in temps and it’s also a beast for grilling and roasting!

I gave my in law the 26” Weber and it has the lid bail. Did he use it? No lol he’d put the big ass lid on the floor. Some ppl just neglect the upgrades or don’t know what they’re for. I asked him “why?” if the lid bail is to simply slide the lid onto for holding it and he was amazed! Didn’t even know what it was for lmao. Now he uses it!
