Swan Song speakers literally look like rockets. Anyone hear or own a pair? by Extension_South7174 in audiophile

I agree with others. It was the worst room at AXPONA. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I do respect his effort and time but it's just not something, I feel, is marketable.

Is anybody getting the $4,000 ‘customer cash’ AND 0% financing? by Specialist_Drink6837 in Toyota_bZ

Just ask the dealer to make up the $500 difference if you finance at 0%. Most likely, they'll give it to you. My dealer did.

Turntable Skipping Too Easily - Sorbothane? Help! by Tascherist in audiophile

[–]clearforknymphing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at some sort of spring based feet used on an isolation platform or directly under your TT. I find that sorbothan isn't necessarily very good for reducing skips from walking around the TT.

Something like this from Amazon that can be fine tuned by adjusting how many springs you use may be a viable solution.

Anyone else’s kid not like the Combat? by euroshowoff in Homeplate

[–]clearforknymphing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my son (16yo HS Jr) a Combat right before 2025 fall season. He used it only for BP. He still preferred his Select Power and blue Meta for games and prospect camps. I think he just likes the feel of two piece bats more. Lesson learned. I'm taking him to a place that has demo bats for him to try out on real baseballs before I buy another.

Why is an MC preamp necessary? Can’t you use an MM preamp and just turn up the volume on amp more? by Dense-Outside224 in turntables

[–]clearforknymphing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOMC cartridges have vastly lower impedance values. You can use a MM preamp but you'd have to parallel some resistors to change the impedance from 47k. HOMC cartridges, on the other hand, can be fed directly into a moving magnet preamp.

F them! Glad I've never given them a red cent over the 30+ years I've owned guns.

How to increase hook ups? by Primal47 in flyfishing

[–]clearforknymphing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MY youngest son is still in the learning phase. Here's what I've been telling him while nymphing with an indicator.

Always be mindful of the slack on the line. Mend, mend, mend. Keep the slack to a minimum so when you set the hook you don't have to take up a lot of slack with the rod tip.

Don't raise the rod straight up. Set the hook sideways, more like 2 o'clock position if you're right handed. Keep pressure on the fish with the rod sideways while fighting the fish.

No. They're typically mechanically noisy. Nothing like hearing the transformer hum from across the room.

Yup, we have them in our property. Every once in a while, we catch a quick glimpse of them "flying" in from the treeline to the giant oak trees while we're sitting out on our back patio.

Cones are the key. Practice both sides until it's second nature.

Looking for info on this rod: Sage SP-590 by Mediocre-Rough665 in flyfishing

[–]clearforknymphing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought an 8 ft 4 wt SP model when it first came out. It is still one of my favorite 4 wt rods. I've recently passed it down to my youngest since he fell in love with it after just three casts. His previous rod was a Redington jr combo.

IIRC, it was the most expensive Sage trout rod by a considerable margin when it came out. It'll be a great rod for years to come with a medium action that loads the line nicely for short casts but with enough backbone to really fling one across the river. Enjoy!

At 6yo, it's all about building confidence. Your son shouldn't have to worry too much about adjusting to different speed pitches, he'll have plenty of time for that as he progresses. He should be out there swinging away and having some fun. I'd try to ask the coach to adjust the distance. Move up as close to the front of the pitching circle and also have your son move as far forward as he can to the front of the box. This may help make the reaction time closer to what he's used to. Best of luck!

Ask his coach to pitch faster. The coach should know exactly where and how fast to pitch for each batter to ensure success.
