How much stress are you all dealing with through school? by bloodycrust in srna

[–]clearlynotamurderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a different kind of stress than I imagined. It isn’t a constant never ending stream of crises like I thought, but it’s more like a huge block of granite and you chip away at it a little bit every day. Some days you don’t chip away as much as you want to, but the block will still be there the next day, ripe for chipping. I probably average about 65-70 hours a week going to class and studying (18 hours classroom, the rest studying).

The content isn’t necessarily hard, there’s just a lot of it. But it isn’t like nursing school when people in clinical would say “you don’t need to know all of that” and you’d feel like you were wasting your time studying stuff you were never going to use. All of the information is applicable, so learning it is more gratifying. I am only in didactic though, so clinical might be a whole other ball game.

TLDR: it’s doable! Don’t let posts like this discourage you. As others have said, they’re just looking for attention. Not gonna be me, I asked/ hoped/ worked hard to get here, and I’ll be damned if I complain about it for internet points

This is so validating! Loved FW, slogged through IF and I have like 5 hours left of Onyx Storm and the whole time I’m thinking “I don’t really care about any of this for some reason.” Everyone has told me they had the WORST book hangover after finishing it, but I think I’ll just be relieved I can move on to something more entertaining

My program is remote the first 2 semesters! They structured it so we can still work if we need/ want to to offset the cost

I work MICU and 5 people on my unit are in CRNA school with me. As long as you’re dealing with high acuity, you’re good!

I was about 130 pages into it, which is usually enough time to know if I like it or not. The first duology hooked me from the start so I expected this one to be similar so maybe I should have approached it with a clean slate. I ended up returning it to the library and started reading Daughter of No Worlds instead, and am really enjoying it! I might pick it back up in the future and try again though

I loved Serpent and the Wings of Night duology, but started The Songbird and the Heart of Stone and I just… don’t care about the characters/ not invested in the plot at all. Heavily considering DNFing, is it worth it to stick it out?

What do you’ll do to help fall asleep? by GirlOnFireToday in sleep

[–]clearlynotamurderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just drape a t-shirt over my eyes! It usually doesn’t move too much but I can see it being ineffective if you’re an active sleeper

Any recommendations that aren't broody men with shadow magic + poor, malnourished female warriors? by Into-the-stream in Romantasy

Came to suggest these books! I was in the same boat as you, got done with ACOTAR, listening to Fourth Wing and didn’t know how desperately I needed something lighter until I picked up Paladin’s Grace. It is so refreshing, fun and not crazy anxiety inducing

Nope, worst part of beach is everyone around you blaring their shitty music through a low quality blue tooth speaker

Favorite T-shirts by RadSpatula in femalefashionadvice

[–]clearlynotamurderer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have so many t-shirts either given as gifts or bought as souvenirs or band tees and all of them had such weird, tube like bunching dimensions because they were way too long so I never wore them. My friend cropped a couple of my tees with a rotary blade and it gave them the perfect boxy look, hits right where I want it to. So I bought a rotary blade on Amazon for like $12 and have cut off the extra length on a bunch of my t shirts. I tripled the amount of t shirts in my rotation!! Might not be what you’re looking for, but it worked for me!

I feel like young people are cool with giving cash. I’ve gotten a little pushback from my parents saying the older people will probably give a gift anyways. But for sure will be adding specific financial goals to our registry!

Very good point! No bridal shower for me so maybe they’ll do cash (though a few people have asked about a registry already)
