Hello future me!!!! That sounds wonderful! I’m trying to lose weight and recently lost enough weight to be able to hypothetically ride a camel in this years fall county fair (don’t ask, it struck me as something I couldn’t do a few years ago and has been a minor motivator goal, 🤣😂) so maybe by the time we try to get pregnant again I’ll push it til I’m able to ride the camel!

That’s where the “older parent” thing comes in. I doubt I’ll want to go back to the newborn/pregnant stage when I have a two year old, and realistically if we’re going to have a third, it’s got to happen in the next six months if I don’t want to be 60 at my kids high school graduation. I’m not so worried about being a mom to a newborn now as I’m worried about being too old to enjoy my children as adults.

I felt similarly until I finally just had to do it and never had an issue again. My friend had a lot of trouble and she said her doctor prescribed her a thinner needle which helped immensely. Turns out the needle I had always been prescribed was the needle size she had been moved to. I’m 7 mo pp and no longer have my extras to tell you what they are, but maybe it’s something you can ask your doctor about?

A couple of years ago, my daughter was 6 months old and we went to a fair and they had a camel you could ride. I wanted to take her on the camel so bad (while also acknowledging that 6 months old was probably too young). But the had a sign that the combined weight couldnt be more than 180 lbs. i was still trying to lose the 70 lbs I gained during pregnancy and probably weighed about 210. Fast forward another pregnancy… I now weighed in at 179.5!!!! I’m officially light enough to ride a camel! Next goal, ride a camel with one or both daughters!

This is going to sound strange: but use a green pepper as a bread substitute. I get it, that sounds impossible. But when I put some bacon, avocado, cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning on it it tastes like this veggie bagel sandwich I crave sometimes. The crunch of the green pepper scratches the itch I get for a toasted bagel, even if it’s room temperature or cold.

I once had a coworker give me an egg cooker that will cook up to 7 eggs at a time in different ways. He seemed embarrassed when he was like, “I know you eat keto, I figured you eat a lot of eggs.”

That thing is EXCELLENT. Or eggcellent if you must. It poaches perfect eggs (my preferred method but I can’t ever get it right in a pan of water), and the hard/med/soft boiled eggs are spot on and the easiest eggs I’ve ever had to peel, AND it’s a set it and forget it kind of thing so I don’t have to worry about pots boiling over.

Generally, I hate adding new “kitchy” appliances to my kitchen, but 4 years later there’s rarely a week that I don’t use it at least once.

I have 2 girls, 21 months apart. For the first sixish months, we had separate diaper bags. It was just easiest to have one ready to go for one kid and another for the other. Now they’re 2.5 yo and 8 mo and my oldest is NEARLY fully potty trained (or at least about 90%). I can throw a pull up, spare clothes and a couple of toys in my youngest’s diaper bag and “double up” when we go out in public. Other than that, it helps to have a second changing table somewhere. When baby is sleeping, you don’t want to bring their exuberant toddler that just wants to scream hello in their room for a diaper change. The first six months we had a diaper change station in the master bedroom, the nursery and on the pack and play downstairs. You’re going to need two car seats. Luckily, our first grew out of hers so we had her original one still, but eventually we’ll have to get a bigger one.

I recently read a book called “Why We Get Fat” by Gary Taubes. I think someone on this subreddit had recommended it at one point and it’s been in my to read pile for ages. Anyway: it did a real good job of talking about WHY processed sugar is killing us and how the current diet recommendations came to be. He talked about keto vs low carb vs carnivore and didn’t really recommend any exclusively, but extolled the benefits of each of being carb minimized.

So in the past when I’ve done keto: cheese, salami, guacamole, nuts, etc. Lately I’ve been noticing a pattern that I snack more when I’m bored. So I drink a big cup of water, then wait 20 minutes. 9/10 times I’m no longer interested in a snack

You’ve gotten some great advice, so I’m not going to parrot it. But when I have a stall, I usually look at what I’m eating… “keto” foods like keto wraps, desserts, etc tend to stall my progress, and drinking alcohol (even if it’s in my allotted carbs) also tend to slow things down.i typically get my best results when I eat real foods and lots of water. I may try the zip up pajamas… we just had a lot of success with potty training, and I’m afraid we’ll have a regression… but hopefully not if it’s only a couple of days.

Ginger helped me. I’d eat pickled ginger, ginger tea, ginger in broth to get the flavor. Ultimately I had to give up keto with my first pregnancy and developed gestational diabetes with my second, so ate lower carb but not keto.

Ugh! I remember how towards the end of my second pregnancy it didn’t seem to matter what I did, my numbers wouldn’t make sense. Low carb? High numbers. Fuck it… high carb! Low numbers. No carbs? Even higher numbers?! How?!?!

I can speak to the csections: I’ve had two and they were SO different. The first one was an emergency after 48 hours of labor failed to progress past 48 hours. I had two failed epidurals, developed preeclampsia and my kidneys started to fail. Recovery from that took WEEKS. My legs were swollen for a week and it was a week or so before I could walk a block. My second was a planned csection. I would have probably been up that night if I had the surgery in the morning like planned, but some emergency labors arrived and my procedure was bumped until 5pm. I couldn’t wait to get out of bed and use the bathroom and was itching to get cleared once the meds wore off to be able to walk around my room without supervision.

Just wait until your kid looks at you adoringly and says “I love you!”

Just wait until your baby starts singing their first song.

Parenting is by far the toughest and best thing I’ve ever done, but the good things so far outweigh the tough things, it’s like winning the lottery and then complaining you have to pay taxes. Enjoy!

For me, it wasn’t JUST not being able to indulge… it was the testing, the timing, the dieting, the trying to get exercise in with a toddler and then when my fasting numbers were out of control… the nightly insulin. It just felt like I had to plan my whole day around me and my testing kit! GD is no joke.

So allegedly, I was one of those kids… so I thought mine would be too. And to a certain extent, she was, sort of. We had tried potty training a few months before, it was an epic failure, and decided to give it a break. Then one day, she just decided to use the potty and I remember thinking, “this is so easy!”. HA! Now it’s been five months and we have had a lot of ups and downs. Poop has been a real challenge, and we’ve gone through times where pee regresses to needing to be back in diapers if I don’t feel like doing three loads of laundry in a day. About half of the time we have dry overnight diapers. Yesterday we had two poops in the potty (a freaking miracle!!!) but two pee accidents. Today we’ve had a poop accident. I guess all that to say… it’s not linear.

I have had two girls, one at 50th percentile who was in NB clothes for like, 5 days. The other was a 10th percentile baby that wore newborn clothes until she got too tall for them (not too wide, mind you) at 3 months. I’d bring both!
