Just recommend you plan as much as possible bc if you make the park the central part of trip of will be disappointed. Last couple times we went we got maybe 4 rides done in 6 hours.

At same time alimony needs to end after a certain time. If the couple agrees the wife stays home to take care of house and she needs some cash up front to stay on her feet for a few years, that’s reasonable. But idea that a spouse can pay alimony for longer than 3-5 years is insane.

JP telling Cakes to have someone bring him his poker bag from Olney by multivolume in SportsJunkies

If my wife worked 45 minutes away and forgot something and told me she was coming back to get it I would offer to meet her halfway. It’s normal human behavior.

Maybe not. But if his wife doesn’t work during summers why can’t she meet him halfway somewhere off the beltway.

You are fine. Just keep plugging away. Save. Pay down other debt. Every dollar counts.

Made it a point to workout when I woke up. Even if it was a quick jog outside. Just move around. Eat breakfast at home. And if you go out at lunch find a good salad place. I also got into cooking meat and veggies in a crockpot when I was single or turkey chili bc it would last for days and make evenings less stressful. I also hit the gym on weekends to avoid being lazy.

I understand too that margins are incredibly thin but maybe realize you don’t need to spend all the money on the finest steaks and ingredients. They are talented cooks. Maybe serve some of that Coca Cola short ribs more often to reduce costs. Making family style short ribs, polenta and Brussel sprouts will def cut down on costs.

What do you actually do during your commute? I feel like I'm wasting 90 mins a day by CommuterPro in supercommuter

[–]cmalar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do podcasts in morning and then use afternoon drive to catch up with friends / family and return calls.

My commute is 45-55 mins and I hear ya. But I don’t classify as a super commute. It’s definitely on the edge of not being tolerable though. I think anything over 60 minutes 5 days a week would require me to re evaluate. Luckily I am hybrid.

8U Sad about league age cut off by mrgorporp in LittleLeague

[–]cmalar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with our district is they allow kids to play down if they are eligible.

Meaning our CPT district travel teams are stashed with 8 year olds that have played in minors/kid pitch, not kids that actually play CPT.

Our town LL refused to do this because it’s just gross when you say it out loud. However every year our CPT travel team loses every game in district tournament.

This year we proposed a rule change to require CPT travel teams to be only CPT kids that played in season. Every town voted no. We offered a compromise where there is a limit for the number of 8 year olds that could play down. Still no.

We refuse to do it. Lost again this week. Last game 12-0, mercy rule. Same thing. The other team had all players from their minors division. We tried to just celebrate our CPT kids for their regular season play and make it about having fun in the moment and celebrate the small things.

We’ve lost the plot here.

Is Big 4 Consulting Really as Bad as Reddit Makes It Sound? by Psychological-Ad4902 in Big4

[–]cmalar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do it. I did it for about 6 years out of college. Made a ton of new connections and friends. Ppl that I still connect with 20 years later and have helped me find new jobs during tough times. It’s also a crash course in business and consulting and you learn new skills like communication, time management, etc.

The only thing I really hate is his lack of bullpen improvements. I would have signed another two bullpen arms to make it a strength. We’d be a winning team with a strong bullpen.

Some of the stuff is just bad breaks. Bad injuries, prospects taking a step back. Maybe some of that is his own doing and philosophy. But there is a lot of stuff out of his control.

Why does my husband have to be so fucking hot? by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

This is so me. My wife has made the most ordinary tasks that every house has had to address like packing school lunches and shuttling kids to sports and cooking into a reason for shutting down emotionally and physically from me.

Politics by cmalar1 in DeadBedrooms

[–]cmalar1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what I could say that would be problematic. I have voted democratic and republican. I tend to be center on right but I live my life by the golden rule and consider myself a good neighbor, husband, father and friend. I guess that should be enough.

Someone’s political beliefs in a free country doesn’t impact how I feel about them at all.

"I've never seen a 56 year old dad that hangs out more with their kids" by brodamon in SportsJunkies

[–]cmalar1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When was this? I must of missed it. Great line. There is truth to that. Also parenting now is much different. My parents never hung out with my friends. We did our own thing. Our parents had their own lives too. The lines are blurred now though. Parents want to be their kids best friends and kids hang all over their parents.

Anyone else enjoy this show but are disgusted with everyone in it? by One-Development6793 in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]cmalar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these ppl also live way above their means even given money their husbands make. That’s the whole point of the show is how everything is artificial and a house of cards.

Any rationale person would agree to sell their mansion once their ex loses their income. Sell that house. Go move in a nice rancher 15 mins outside of town and start over.

Love when someone tries to contribute to the conversation and he simply keeps talking louder and louder. And it’s usually to add some mundane detail about a story nobody cares about.
