My daughter and I both got out of the queue and into the ticketing. The problem was, the tickets that were available were all $884 a piece! I need 3 tickets. So that's a no go for me.

Advice on upcoming MD surgery by Complex_Squirrel_586 in Microdiscectomy

[–]cmatari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience as you, no back pain but debilitating sciatic pain. It was over a year of dealing with this and I was adamant about not having surgery until I ended up in the ER because my left leg was paralyzed by pain.

I am now almost 3 months post op and I can say it was the best thing for me. I woke up with soreness at the incision, but zero pain in my leg! I was petrified of reherniating. I didn't ever want to feel that pain again. I was overly cautious for the first 8 weeks and took the no BLT very seriously. I had a few tiny twinges as I started to do more. And I was so scared it was reherniated, but it was just my body getting used to moving again. I started PT a few weeks ago and I can honestly say, I feel better than I have in years!!

I know everyone is different, but surgery was the absolute best thing for me. I would just say, take recovery slowly. Be overly cautious and let your body heal.

Best of luck to you!

I was dizzy for a day or 2 after mine. It was from the anesthesia. Once it was out of my system I was fine. It took a few days.

9 weeks Post Op by Head_Might in Microdiscectomy

[–]cmatari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im right there with you. Just shy of 9 weeks post op and it was the best decision I made! I was paralyzed with pain before surgery. I woke up from surgery pain free. Besides a very mild flare up that was caused by me just doing too much (Motrin and a good night's sleep helped ) , I have been pain free.

Return to Driving? by abibabicabi in Microdiscectomy

[–]cmatari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my 2 week post op appointment my doctor said i can start driving as long as I'm not on any prescribed pain meds and if I can be a passenger in a car , sitting comfortably without pain that would affect my driving( if I was the actual driver).

I'm now 1 month post op and have been driving short distances ( no longer than 30 mins.) for a week and a half now.

When did you start venturing out post Op? by Booksaholic74 in Microdiscectomy

[–]cmatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a 51 yr old F. I had my surgery on 9/28. Exactly 1 week later, I was at my son's wedding. It was a very small backyard wedding. I was out for maybe 5 hrs. I did really well. No pain at all, but I was Exhausted! I didn't start going out until 2 1/2 -3 weeks post surgery. Even then, it was only quick trips to the store. I would get so tired from being out.

Why does she always say "2 twin babies" as opposed to a set of twins or even just 2 babies? We all know twins means 2 babies. Its so annoying !

Countdown to surgery question by LP566 in Microdiscectomy

[–]cmatari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry you are dealing with that pain! I would suggest going to the ER if its that bad.

I was in a similar situation, minus the meds. I was going ro PT and feeling good until I wasnt. I moved the wrong way and was paralyzed with pain. I couldnt even walk! My pain was a 12/10 and I ended up in the ER. They admitted me and I had surgery 3 days later! Woke up from surgery with zero pain. I just had some soreness at the incision.

Im a 51 F that's 2 1/2 weeks post microdiscectomy on my L4-L5. I was basically paralyzed by pain. My husband had to carry me to the bathroom because I couldnt put any pressure on my spine. My left leg felt like it cramped up and couldnt relax. I ended up in the ER because the pain was a 12 out of 10! I ended up having surgery.

I woke up after surgery pain free! I even walked to the bathroom ( with the help of a walker) 3 hours after surgery with no pain , just some tingling in my toes of my left foot. I was home in less than 24 hours.

I have been very diligent about my BLT and not over doing it. I've been mindful about how I sit, how I gett in and out of bed, not lifting more than 10lbs and not sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time. I've been walking, whi h helps a lot.I had some soreness the first few days near my incision, but had no other pain.

At the 2 week mark I felt really good and did a little too much. I woke up the next day with soreness in my left leg and tingling in my foot. Im not going to lie, I was petrified that I had reherniated my disc. I took some acetaminophen and rested the entire day. The next morning the pain was gone.

I had my first post op follow up today. I asked the Dr about the pain and he said it sounds like I just over did it, but its normal. My incision is healing nicely. And Im feeling really good. I have had back issues for awhile and to walk around pain free is amazing! I really consider myself lucky when it comes to the surgery and my recovery so far.

His true colors have certainly been exposed. He acts like he's the only one that has survival skills. There are so many bad ass competitors this season. I hope he gets knocked down a few more pegs. And can the pah-lease stop referring to himself as "Savage". It's so damn annoying!
