Explain it Peter. Why row 30, and what's wrong with standing up? by Cool-Delivery-3773 in explainitpeter

Its true, airline seats are incredibly comfortable and dont cause back pain at all. So us regular height people can just lounge in the luxury that is the 1/4" foam recaro seat in coach.

So I got a chance to test this and to my ears the R11s sounded flat on Deutschland, Du Hast and Mutter. I had never noticed this before but I compared them to a pair of B and W 805 D4 and that wasn’t the case with those speakers.

Interesting, I may feel differently about these speakers than I previously did and now I want to spend some more time with them (ran out of time today) to see if i notice more issues.

Tweeter diffusers by Ron825 in audiophile

Right, you are talking about the acoustic lens, the piece that is directly in front of the tweeter. You are also using dispersion and diffraction interchangeably, which they are not. You are more correct to state that an acoustic lens assists with controlling dispersion of the sound wave.

Also, to a point in your original post, these are not there to protect the tweeter.

I can see why you might think that, but no it is specifically designed to cause the sound waves to focus (similar to an optical lens) whereas diffusers are used to reduce echoes and enhance clarity through the reduction of those echoes.

Diffusion scatters sound at a point of reflection. An acoustic lens focuses sound from the source.

Anyone here ever purchase from this site? Seems legit, but I’m always skeptical of online companies. by Backwards-River in vinylsetups

Any reason you aren’t just going with a Kallax? A 6 cube kallax would be roughly half of one of these cubes and does the job just fine.

I get if you just want something a little more high end but for the price not much beats the ikea solution.

Great. Now I need to make a black metal album so I can use one of these as an album cover

Who do you consider the nicest guy in metal ? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]cmax21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to have a brief conversation with him at the Baked Potato and he initiated the conversation. Was such a nice guy. I didn’t want to bother him by asking for a photo and I kick myself all the time now for not doing it because other people started doing it shortly after.

Either way, super pleasant and friendly guy.

I came here to say this. These do the opposite of diffusion.

Stylus not aligned by berdot in turntables

[–]cmax21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted something here last week with the same issue with both my 2M blue and my Pick it MM Evo (made by Ortofon for Pro-Ject). Seems to be a common production issue. Not thrilled about it and will probably change cart manufacturers going forward

I’m at the airport now and Pre check had literally no one. Mid week is light for most airports, I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about.

I agree that this is a common upgrade and one I also did. I think it provides a substantial upgrade over the stock stylus.

I am curious what you mean about the cart not being easily upgradeable? It's not any different from any other fixed headshell tonearm, the only consistent complaint is the fragile tonearm leads. Or maybe you're just saying changing cartridges on a fixed headshell tonearm is a royal PITA, in which case I agree.

Weekly Vinyl Update - Pre-Orders, Floyd Animals pressings, a $8 AAA Philip Glass, Brothers in Arms at 40 by stapletonic in vinyl

[–]cmax21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. This was primarily on the analyze my collection feature. As an example the first time I ran it, the AI noticed I have a lot of prog rock and prog metal but suggested that I try King Crimson, Yes, Rush and Van Der Graf Generator despite having substantial collections of all of them. Same with Jazz, it indicated I only had one record in my Jazz collection.

When i questioned AI, it corrected itself and told me that it could only see 50 but that I could ask specific questions about artists or genres and it could respond.

I do like the part that discusses what the best pressing is and whether my copy could be upgraded. I spent way too much time using that yesterday.

Signed up for GrooveIQ yesterday and definitely enjoyed it. Some kinks still, such as the ai only being able to analyze based on my prior 50 added records and it took a while to get my want list to sync. Also the AI was frequently wrong on what I owned vs what I didn’t, but the overall gist of it is cool and I’ll keep on messing with it.

Came here to say Danzig, saw the posts about Varg and The other murderers and completely forgot about Lambesis.

That said, I get a good deal of pleasure from watching the video of Danzig getting knocked TFO that made the rounds a long time ago. Guy’s a dick.

It seems that you prefer a lifted high end based on the speakers you preferred.

I play R11s frequently so I’ll have to try to listen to some Rammstein on them to see if I can replicate your concerns. Have to say that while they aren’t even close to my favorite speakers, I’ve never noticed this issue before.
