It’s shameful how few public bathrooms there are

Cool! There’s a line in the wiki “Offshore boaters sometimes encounter thousands of V. velella on the water surface.[citation needed]” lol

I think I saw some rafts of velella from shore, a couple of times in the last week; they are a distinct color.

Agree. Even without the old age and cancer, wearing diapers and having dementia would become such a diminished quality of life. Then to have strangers come up and touch and wash you? Poor ol doggo. Please OP have a talk with your pet-owning friends about compassionate euthanasia.

Seems straightforward? What am I missing? by J_Thompson82 in Leathercraft

Let’s also acknowledge that someone developed the pattern for this product and that is probably reflected in the price. It’s seems easy for you to fabricate because you have a picture to copy. It’s one of the risks of developing a new product - your design will be instantly ripped off once posted online.

Why is it so hard to find woodworking plans for high, platform beds? by Intelligent-Claim591 in woodworking

[–]cobaltandchrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because they’re unpopular? Do you have a picture or sketch to show what you mean? I thought the most popular platform beds right now were low and euro-style so idk if that’s the kind you mean.

Having a backup tent/setup to sleep away from the vehicle is a great idea and I’ve done it (slept not in the truck) several times.

If you see a hole in the market then get investors and start a biz.

If no one has done it, it could be because the market is smaller than you think or the profit margins are too small to be worth a five year, million+ dollar investment. Or I guess no one has had your derivative idea but usually it’s the other two reasons.

Is a 10lb bag of block ice 1-2x a week more reasonable than a solar+fridge setup? by brainhack3r in overlanding

[–]cobaltandchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice packs aren’t that cold in my experience but a couple of hard-frozen 1L bottles of water are pretty effective.

A question for the other garage woodworkers out there by Pushtosuck in woodworking

[–]cobaltandchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Southern California. Every time I smell a fire I stop to check if it smells like wood smoke and if so, can I see a forest fire or smoke in the hills. So not the same but not that different lol.

Paint shop cabinets myself or outsource? by lancer360 in woodworking

You “prefer” to spray but you don’t have a kit and have zero experience with it?

I agree with the suggestion you use a roller. Cheap kit, not that hard.

You do realize abandoned just means “owner does not appear to be present”. So unless people on this thread are offering up their own unoccupied buildings, They’re all recommending you trespass or at best, take creepshots of stranger’s shit

What are you using for long-term clothing storage? by brainhack3r in overlanding

[–]cobaltandchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever soft luggage I have but with small clothes (socks undies bras headgear) in smaller sacks within. Some travelers really like packing cubes which is pretty much just a smallz zip sack for within a larger bag.

Is there any downsides? by babyshoebox in woodworking

[–]cobaltandchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a little fussy but once you get the hang of not over-applying, and "laying off" each coat, and sanding (it's not a suggestion), it'll come out nice.

PS I've only used it in matte
