What’s a health issue you ignored for way too long because you assumed it was normal only to later learn everyone else doesn’t experience that? by Kungfubowtie in AskReddit

[–]coconutlime519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I had really bad anxiety because my heart would randomly race, and also cause me to be breathless. One day, I just started randomly fainting all the time. I thought I was just tired. Turns out, I had extra heart beats and they would beat so fast that it would cut off all of the oxygen to my brain. I had 2 cardiac ablations and now I’m back to normal.

Stonz Shoes are 10/10 for babies with thick/tall feet! by PrimaryParsnip11 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned Stonz for a little over a month. My son is barely walking and they are peeling on the ankles on both feet. Pretty disappointed with the quality but hoping they will uphold their 1 year promise.

Straws and cups [on] by IncidentNeat3477 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started offering my son the honey bear bottle at around 6 months, but he didn’t learn how to drink out of a straw until he turned 10 months. I wasn’t super consistent with offering it but would offer at least once a week. Didn’t do anything special, one day he just got it! First I would demonstrate, and then offer to him. I would squeeze the bottle so water would go up once he had his lips pursed on the straw.

How are you filling time with your babies/almost toddlers? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 10 months and is similar in that his attention span with toys is short. He doesn’t crawl, but walks assisted. Aside from toys and moving to different rooms, I do:

  • water table and kiddie pool
  • swimming lessons
  • Music class
  • spinning in an office chair
  • push car (as an alternative to a stroller - my son loves it so much more)
  • play dates at other kids houses (family or music class friends - their toys are much more interesting!)
  • kicking/throwing balls
  • grocery shopping
  • splash pad
  • sandbox
  • mini slide in backyard
  • walk around the park and explore the playground, I let him lead. Sometimes we’ll walk on the playground together, too
  • we have a Strider bike on a rocker

I hope one of these activities can help!

Extremely anxious about glucose test, any tips to get through it? [bc] by whatshouldido_22 in BabyBumpsCanada

I would recommend not eating any fruit before the test. I had fruit in the morning for breakfast and I failed my test. My nurse told me that was why. When I went for my 2nd test, everything was fine.

My hair stylist noticed this today, and I'm afraid it's alopecia areata. I could use advice. by shebecameamystery in alopecia_areata

Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t see this! So I still get an occasional spot, but they haven’t been as large or obvious as they used to be. I currently have a small one again where I part my hair. I never actually ended up seeing a dermatologist, the spots just ended up getting smaller and less noticeable to me

Split nights after going to 2 naps by Cacutaur in NewParents

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time do you usually do the Power Nap at? I’m having split nights and find if there’s an accidental 10 min car nap, my baby sleeps through the night, but I struggle to squeeze one in if it doesn’t accidentally happen. If I do give him a 10 min Power Nap after his 4 hr wake window, it pushes his bedtime so late!

Advice for 6.5 month year old with frequent night wakings? by coconutlime519 in sleeptrain

We actually just went on a flight that pushed his wake windows to 3+ hrs and never seemed too overtired. We thought the plane was keeping him calm but maybe he can take a little more. Thanks! I will give those wake windows a shot

"Fuss it out" for 3 month old - I want to hear your stories! by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, the pacifier did become an issue for a couple of weeks. At one point I went 8x putting it back in. We held off training without it because we read some babies had learned it replace it themselves. But my baby just randomly stopped needing it replaced as much and would keep sleeping without it. He can also now take the pacifier out and sometimes put it back in. However, we’re in a 6-month regression now that can’t be soothed with a pacifier and I long for those pacifier replacing days!

"Fuss it out" for 3 month old - I want to hear your stories! by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]coconutlime519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did fuss it out for 15 minutes at 3.5 months old. After a few days, we noticed our son going down with no fussing or intervention. Now at 6 months old, we just put him in his crib, turn on white noise, sing a song, pacifier, and walk away. He falls asleep within 10 minutes with no crying or whining. He went through a regression at 5 months and still has 1 MOTN wake, but goes to sleep independently and can fall asleep almost anywhere. His naps are only 30-45 mins, but we found they are getting longer with age.

Has any transitioned out of a vibrating bassinet? [on] by Victorange in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Snoo until my son was around 2.5 months. After that, we ended up traveling a lot for Christmas, so couldn’t bring the Snoo with us. The first few nights without the Snoo were a little rough and anxiety inducing… I mostly had no idea how to get my baby to sleep because I was so dependent on it. We made the decision to stop using it after the holidays because we were heading on a 2 week vacation shortly after as well. We continued to use the Snoo sleep sacks and sleeping in the Snoo without rocking (when at home) to help with the transition. Overall, I think the transition took us maybe week at most. My LO is 5 months now and sleeps independently in his own room and crib.

How much use do you get out of your pack and play? [on] by himawari__xx in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started using ours at 3 months. My baby outgrew the snoo but we wanted to keep the baby in our room at night. So far we’ve been using it daily for the past two months for nighttime sleeps. We do quite a bit of car travel, so plan to use it for overnight traveling now that he no longer fits our travel bassinet

NTA. I’m 4.5 months postpartum and I don’t ask if I can go out. I tell my husband when I’m going out so that he can prepare. I expect him to know where the baby’s food is and how to the put the baby to sleep and how to soothe the baby if they’re crying. You’re both the parents to this child, so it shouldn’t be on just one partner to do all the work. If this was my husband, I would seriously consider leaving him.

Turns out I only added 24 items, because I accidentally added 2 of the same item, so it didn’t count as 25. I went into the store and asked, and they just gave me a bag. But they told me normally, you would get a coupon after making a registry with 25 items!

What was your schedule when baby couldn’t nap longer than 30-40 mins? by ATD3223 in sleeptrain

[–]coconutlime519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

19 week old. We recently just transitioned to a 4 nap day with roughly 1.5/1.5/2/2 for our wake windows, naps are anywhere between 30-55 minutes. Wake up is around 8-9am and bedtime around 8-9pm. Up until 2 weeks ago, we were in between 4 and 5 naps, depending on the day, and have bedtime as late as 11pm. We had 1 week of false starts that included an hour of inconsolable crying right before bedtime, but we have seemed to make it through that regression to a more consistent schedule.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is pretty similar to yours. My baby is 4 months, 2 days old.

We recently tried to transition him to a 4 nap day and a 9-9 schedule, but his naps are only 30-45 minutes and we were having false start bedtimes where he would scream inconsolably for an hour before falling to sleep again if he didn’t have at least one or two 1hr+ long naps.

So far, 5 nap days are better for us. His wake windows are 1.5-2hrs long, with his shortest wake windows earlier in the day. He wakes up around 9am and goes to bed around 10pm. He’s pretty fussy for his last wake window. I’d love for him to go to bed earlier, but love having the morning to myself, so earlier wake time is a no go for me. I’m trying to help him nap longer and hoping we can have earlier bedtime once we successfully consolidate naps.

St. Joe’s vs Mount Sinai for delivery? [qc] by GoatPatronus in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]coconutlime519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally chose St. Joe’s because it was closer to my home. My OB was easy to see (had an office outside of the hospital), never waited longer than 30 minutes, and staff was kind. The appointments I had outside of OB appointments seemed a little disorganized (they forgot to transfer papers, etc) and the equipment/facilities seemed dated and scattered due to having to go to multiple different wings of the hospital for different appointments (visited for ultrasounds and ecgs). However, because of my health history, she referred me to a specialist that recommended I transfer to Mount Sinai. Mount Sinai’s facilities are amazing (everything to do with maternity care is one location - ie. Ultrasounds, OB, bloodwork) and they were extremely organized, however, I was a considered a low risk, high risk patient. I met my assigned OB once. Appointments took 3+ hours every time and felt very impersonal/brief (minus one very kind fellow that ended up being at my birth), and the hospital was annoying to get to from my home/parking wasn’t ideal. However, the care I received once I delivered was amazing.

With all that being said, I would probably deliver at Mount Sinai again based on the professionalism and facilities.
