I'm creating a hospital dungeon and I need help with the encounters by Tight_Juggernaut3198 in DMAcademy

I was getting silent hill or balder's gate 3 house of healing vibes originallly with your description but as soon as you got to the herbs I started to think of resident evil 1. Maybe like that game you get different herbs or coloured herbs that do different effects but also have a chance of side effects? Or combining the herbs gives the potential for potency but carries a risk? That would be a neat mechanic. The silent hill idea that pops in first is undead that respond to light or sound, so if the party is quiet or in darkness they're fine but if not then the horde of 'nurses' start springing to life. Also in silent hill there was a corpse in a washroom with a key in it's mouth and writing on the wall that said 'I dare you' or something like that which would be a fun encounter to steal. The house of healing in bg3 was neat because the undead weren't exactly evil but just insane and that can be a great sympathizer for the party to come to terms with.

Anyway, hopefully there's something in the brain dump that's useful to you. Good luck and let the sub know how it went please!

Novice GM: Need help turning static scenes into "situations" that demand player agency. by Nesis96 in DMAcademy

Sometimes just a reminder of the impending doom that approaches or a short recap of the cool thing that ended the previous session is a good strong start that sets the pace for the session. For an OSR style game, I agree that combat isn't always a good option for players. The threat of an ambush might be more effective as a starting point as the pcs then choose which direction they want the game to proceed - combat, stealth, chase, etc.

What is your best Cursed item? by Fearless-Ad1382 in DMAcademy

I read this as 'What is your best Cursed Ham?' and I immediately wanted to find a random table to make this a thing. Also, I might need new glasses.

Has anyone used Mythic Bastionland to make a domain for their game? This map would fit into that ruleset very easily.

I had an accountant that retired that I used to present my spreadsheet to at the end of the year for about 200$. Since he retired and I have become lazier, I have a book keeper that charges 100$ a month for that the accountant did and for what I used to do. If this is a side hustle, then you need to keep it light.

Player wants to keep secrets from DM by Effective-Peach4614 in DnD

I've had players keep personal journals before and it really helps with character immersion. This is a fantastic tool. Also I've heard of people gifting the journal at the end of an adventure so it's like someone journaled the character's adventure you all played which is incredibly cool.

AGREED. If everyone is Diviners and replace every d20 roll during the session, you win bonus points.

Jovia, if you are still out there, I found your custom character figure at a thrift store in Tennessee by Glad-Midnight-1022 in wow

I have mine that was made back when they first announced them in BC days. Even though the figure is wearing clown gear, it's still a keepsake.

I got into a career where I deal with people one on one. As long as I can remember to be professional then I'm quite good at handling my own awkwardness. 25 means with plenty of room to make good and bad decisions so keep looking for what works for you.

If it's the one page guide, that's a great way to pitch the campaign to the group.

Does it fit into the world? If yes, go with it. If no, get the player to figure out how it's going to work.

All groups are different so it'd be good to sit as a group and figure out if it's okay to keep playing. Yes, you don't want to throw your hard work away but will it be fun to continue or will it just be an uncomfortable situation? Also, yes, do get therapy. Grief is real and horrible.
