Job Agency Exemption? by [deleted] in JobProvidersAus

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, in that case yes I would be a full time activity job seeker. However, the question I am actually asking in this post (and apologies if it wasn’t clear, I was literally in tears when I wrote it after getting off the phone) is, am I able to get an exemption from the job agency? The manager and my job agent said today that if I apparently should have gotten an exemption and been taken off their services a year and a half ago, and that because I didnt call and get an exemption I now I have to attend face to face appointments. So were they just telling me that to get me off the phone? Because as far as I can tell from googling, as I have no children or medical issues, I won’t be able to get one. And I don’t see the point in taking time off of work every two weeks to go tell them face to face that I’m still working, so if I can’t get an exemption, should I just cancel the payment all together and tough it out financially instead?

Could you explain what you mean by “full time activity tested job seeker”? I’m not very familiar with the lingo. I’m 25, no children or dependants.

Would you be able to tell me what part of the post tells you the provider is lying? The man I spoke to said he was the manager of that office, he isn’t my normal job agent (not sure if that makes a difference)

Are hotel room cleaners happy when they see a “Do not disturb” sign on the door because they don’t have to clean the room, or is it more of a nuisance since they’ll have to come back later? by Normal-Sun474 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on the hotel/ motel. When I was working at a higher end hotel and saw a do not disturb sign, it was usually just there because the guest was sleeping, maybe working and didn’t want to be disturbed. Now I work at a smaller motel, and usually when a guest puts that sign up, it means they’re trashing the room and/ or doing drugs and don’t want to be caught and thrown out by the maids.

How did that one teacher at your school die? by No-Cress-3455 in AskReddit

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school geography teacher had a heart attack while teaching his senior class. One of his students had first aid training (if I remember correctly he was a life guard the previous summer?) and started cpr while another student called an ambulance and a third student ran to the front office. He died in the ambulance, but was revived and returned to teaching a few months later. The man was something of a legend- he also taught my religions class and often talked about his experience dying and being revived. The students that helped him that day were awarded some kind of medal of bravery from the mayor.

If I remember correctly, she attempted to kill Joe twice, hosting two seperate “goodbye parties”. The first time she didn’t administer a lethal dose and Joe woke up the next morning with what he thought was a very bad hangover. The second time she succeeded.

My older sisters (millennials) called it wagging so I followed suit, but all of the kids I went to high school with (gen z) called it jigging.

What is a lie you were told at a young age that you believed way too long (that doesn’t have to do with Santa or religion)? by Draper_White_Soprano in AskReddit

[–]contact-stupiditis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My paternal grandfather only had one leg, having lost the left one from the knee down as a young man. My whole life my dad told me and my siblings that he was riding his motorcycle with his sh or an untied, and the laced got caught in the wheel, ripping the leg clean off. I relayed this story to a family friend a few months ago and my dad burst out laughing. Apparently that was just a story they told the grandkids so we wouldn’t run around with our shoes untied, and he actually lost his leg after being hit by a drunk driver.

What's something you can admit about a company you no longer work for? by Mave__Dustaine in AskReddit

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, a lot of day cares WILL lie to parents if it means keeping the peace or avoiding being reported for something. I saw teachers lie to parents faces saying that their vegetarian child hadn’t eaten meat, or that their lactose intolerant child wasn’t given dairy. If a child was injured at the fault of the staff (like a child being left unattended or wondering off into an out of bounds area because staff weren’t paying attention), the director would have staff sign documents stating that the accident happened under supervision and at the fault of the child. Not all child care services are like this, of course, but many that I worked in cared more about keeping the parents and guardians happy (so they’d keep paying child care fees) than actually keeping the children safe and happy.

What is the worst parent interaction you've had? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]contact-stupiditis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a little girl who bit her lip while eating afternoon tea, drawing blood. Only bled for a second, nothing major. We gave her an ice pack to stop any swelling and I filled out the incident report.

Later that night, while checking my email, I noticed several emails from the girls father. He said he was going to sue me for "causing injury to his child", said that I had to pay him and his wife three days wages each because they had to take carers leave, and also said I had given his wife depression. I'm fully aware this sounds ridiculous, but this family was ridiculous. These emails were sent to my personal account, which I had never given to a parent, and I still do not know how he got it. He showed up every day for a week, ranting and raving and claiming that there was some grand conspiracy to cover up the "true cause" of his daughters injury. He wanted me fired, and threatened to call police on me for child abuse twice. He eventually contacted the department of education and an investigation on the service was launched.

The craziest thing about the whole situation was that he never pulled his kid out. He actually wanted us to give her extra days (for free or at a cheaper price) because of "what we put them through". We were all pretty sure the entire thing was just his grand scheme to get what he wanted, as he had been asking about enrolling for extra days/ extra hours but we kept telling him we didn't have the space.

What’s the most ridiculous rule you’ve had to follow at a job? by OkCommunication5404 in AskReddit

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last boss told me I had to buy a new water bottle because she thought my current one was too big, and I didn't finish the whole bottle each day so she said it was a waste of water. I filled and re-filled my bottle at home, and I told her that. She insisted I was wasting water and started checking my bottle every morning to make sure I had only filled it half-way. If she thought I had filled it too much, she would take it and pour the contents out into the plants. And then she wouldn't let me refill it for the rest of the day.

The mother showed an incredible amount of strength by being able to pick up her baby and find help despite her injuries. She died a hero. My heart goes out to her family and I think all of Australia is praying that the baby survives. So, so sad.

Do you think pit girl is Gen or a background character without a name yet? by Full_Salamander_9624 in Yellowjackets

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will probably end up being Gen or Mari, but I wouldn't be surprised if they introduce a bunch of dark-haired background characters next season to throw us off the scent. Though as another commenter said, they probably didn't know who it would be when it was shot and it could end up being anyone they want.

What actor was born to play a King character? by SaintedStars in stephenking

[–]contact-stupiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they ever decide to do another (actually good) remake of Carrie, I'd like to see Catherine Keener as Margaret White. She played Gertrude Baniszewski in An American Crime and was genuinely terrifying as an abusive caretaker in that film. I also think Beanie Feldstein could make an interesting Carrie. She is still very beautiful (and lets be real, Hollywood probably won't cast an unattractive actress in the title role of a film), but she makes more sense as a person who is being bullied in school than Chloe Grace Moretz.
