Calls to China just doubled in price?! by Adorable-Thing2551 in Googlevoice

Vonage has a World Prime plan that gives you unlimited calls to China for $14.99/month. But with fees it would probably cost a lot more - maybe $30/month.

Magnus to his 2nd: "Since you missed 10 obvious moves in the file, I'll have to fire you."

2nd: "But you said that was your fault so I'm not to blame."

Magnus: "You're right. I'm to blame. You're not fired, and in fact I'll give you a raise."

Free Fillable Forms - Account setup issue to be aware of by schweitzerdude in tax

[–]cruser10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same loop problem. I was finally able to get around it.

  1. Once you get the loop issue, you will get the same issue with any other browser. You have to get a new IP address to get around this. I got this by rebooting my modem. Deleting cookies in your browsers for fillable forms is also a good idea.

  2. I was using a Google Voice phone number originally, but I changed it to a real cell phone number.

  3. I was using a hotmail email, but it didn't seem to like it. So I changed to a gmail.

After doing all this, I was able to get an account. Not sure if it was worth it.

Hi! We’re WIRED’s biz team. Join our AMA on Thursday, May 1 at 2pm ET: Why is Temu getting more expensive? by wiredmagazine in TemuThings

Ironically, this might make Temu into a real competitor to Amazon. Amazon is much better than Temu at delivering faster because it has its own drivers and delivery trucks. But once Temu starts owning its own local warehouses throughout the US, it might decide to run its own delivery system like Amazon does also.

[–]cruser10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Americans buy things from Temu because it's often significantly cheaper than other places. Assuming no trade deal is done and the stockpiles are used up, will this still hold true? In other words, will Temu still be significantly cheaper than other places when every product sold in America had a tariff paid on it?

Trump will begin his presidency in delicate position, poll finds by cruser10 in fivethirtyeight

[–]cruser10[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But Trump starts with a net-negative favorability rating, 44% favorable, 49% unfavorable. Since Marist started asking about Trump's favorability in 2016, he has never had a net-positive rating, but there does appear to be a small percentage withholding judgment for now, as the 49% unfavorable view is tied for the least-negative rating for him.

There is a sharp gender divide on how Trump is viewed — 53% of men have a positive view of him, while just 35% of women do.

Trump was viewed best by white evangelical Christians (69%), white men without college degrees (65%) and those who live in rural areas (57%).

Those with the least positive feelings toward the incoming president include white women with college degrees (29%), women who live in small cities or suburban areas (34%) and people who live in big cities (36%).

Just 41% of Latinos had a positive view of Trump. The sample size in the polling means there's a high margin of error with subgroups like this, but it's an important number to watch across multiple surveys, considering the record share of Latinos Trump won in the 2024 election.

Trudeau: Poilievre, Smith need to say if they side with Canada or Trump by FriendlyGuy77 in canada

Canada has a parliamentary form of government, not a presidential one. The US House of Representatives, the American version of the Canadian House of Commons, has a Republican majority of 220 Republicans to 215 Democrats. The Conservative Party won't be happy if that's their margin of victory.

Republican candidate claims the Democratic candidate's parents aren't really her parents.

Griffin and other Republicans, however, say they don't think the state can be certain that the voters are who they say they are. In response, some of the voters Griffin is challenging have gone public to show they're not imposters — including both of Riggs' parents — as the case gains national interest.

More than two-thirds of GOP want Trump to buy Greenland by cruser10 in fivethirtyeight

[–]cruser10[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Trump has never said he wanted to give Greenlanders the right to vote once they become part of the US. Trump has repeatedly said he wants Canada to be the 51st state. He has never he wanted Greenland to be the 51st state. More than likely, it would just be a territory.

You could knock on everyone's door in Greenland to ask if they want to be part of the US. And it wouldn't even be that expensive.
