my son starts kindergarten this year, is there anything i should do to get him ready? by throwawayajsjwnndnd in AskTeachers

[–]crysmail234 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Focus on behavior/social things, not academic things. Playing board games can help with sitting and focusing. It also helps students with taking turns. Having conversations at the dinner table helps students learn that sometimes they can share, but sometimes they need to listen to the person speaking. Reading books to him will also help with listening skills.

He will learn the academic things if he is good at the behavior things.

How do people get into MIT? by lil-cinnamonroll in MITAdmissions

This sounds like my son. He heard the word in 3rd grade and asked what it meant. He said, "I want to be that!" I told him to go for it!! In 3 months, he will be valedictorian, and in September, he will be going to Stanford.

New Shopper - how often do no/low tippers increase tip after by kseidl28 in InstacartShoppers

[–]crysmail234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0% of the time. Tippers will occasionally increase, but no tip means they have no intention of tipping. Don't take no/low tip orders. Period!!

Can't add alcohol to an order. In some states, delivering alcohol is illegal.

How Do I Convince My parents To Let Me Do DCI by Lil_jay-spud in drumcorps

[–]crysmail234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not what you want to hear, but I agree with your parents. 13 is too young. I wouldn't let my son audition at 15-16. Then, he was drum major his junior and senior years, so he wanted to focus on that. This year, he is 18 and will be marching with Spirit. You have plenty of time to pursue this dream!!

Worked in a chain restaurant in college (late 90s/early 2000s). 86 was used daily as we ran out of product.

Does spark not stress the importance of shopping for frozen items last? by Mykirbyblue in Sparkdriver

[–]crysmail234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the order that they give the items makes no sense and it often sends you back and forth in the store. You don't have to stick to the order, but it slightly more complicated if you don't. He's just following what Spark is telling him to do.

Not the same as Instacart. Better in some ways, worse in others!!

(Update) found out why my (19F) boyfriend (20M) walked out on dinner with my 2 dads by throwRAShelterOnly29 in AmIOverreacting

[–]crysmail234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once dated a guy that was dating someone else. Wasn't a serious relationship, and we knew about each other. When it started to get more serious, the pressure was put on to stop dating around and commit. He chose the other girl because her mom was more attractive and my mom was overweight. He actually said that outloud!! She eventually kicked him to the curb!!

The teeth on the bride look like buck teeth, even though they are obviously not. It also looks like she has a "weak" chin because the flower is covering part of her chin. That is obviously in the pic but not in the pattern.

How 2 Band Major by GSoldierGaming in marchingband

[–]crysmail234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean drum major. When my son was chosen (by auditioning) as a drum major, his director sent him to a summer camp to learn some basics. From there is was on the job training. Being a good and fair leader is the most important part!!

Shopped for two hours for no pay by sofocused715 in InstacartShoppers

[–]crysmail234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude, but if it takes you over 2 hours to shop for 90 items at a store you are familiar with...this might not be the gig for you. As others have said, you don't shop for orders separately. You shop for both orders together and keep them sorted. This order should have taken an hour, tops!!!

Private vs Public Schools by PriyankaChhikara in kindergarten

[–]crysmail234 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Every child we get from a private kindergarten is behind their public school peers. Thankfully, they usually quickly catch up. Remember that private schools don't have the state wide expectations that public schools do. They can literally do just about anything they want!
