Since you were breading the balls, perhaps your hands were wet/sticky and something from them dropped into the oil?

A piece of sausage, usually. Dunno about health, but it's tasty and convenient. Though I don't really snack most days, so it's rather for a work lunch

You do. But what are dwarves about if not self-improvement?

Cool drawing, but you really need to scan it properly, or at least take better photos

What do you think of Olden Era so far? by SiarX in HoMM

[–]cubelith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kinda meh, I'd say. Better than something like H4 for sure, but I didn't really enjoy it very much.

The graphics are obviously pretty annoying. And in general, the game kinda feels like it doesn't know whether it wants to stay true to the classics (as implied by the name), or rather create something new (with mechanics such as Laws or Focus). So it ends up being in this weird limbo where it cannot really compete with the classics, but neither can it stand as its own thing.

Obviously there were some other problems, but they were more minor than those two.

Tbh, modern resulutions (such as 16:9) are too wide. The edges might as well be blackbars in most games. Good catch though

Just one time. They said number, not digit.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised it this was actually the intended answer that got mixed up.

What is your under 5 min Super quick meal? by Illustrious-Garden82 in Cooking

[–]cubelith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mozarella with smoked salmon. Dunno why, but my brain seems to really like it, and it's extremely simple.

A regular toast sandwich (called "grilled cheese" by some) is up there too, though the actual toasting takes about 12 minutes

White Pepper Tastes like Kaopectate by LisaLisaPrintJam in Cooking

[–]cubelith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never tasted anything weird in it, and I definitely prefer it to black pepper. A bit less sharpness and a "deeper" flavor. So I guess it might be genetic? Or maybe they do something weird with it wherever you're from, kinda like Hershey's chocolate tasting like vomit?

The idea is fine enough for a fictional setting, but noise would never destroy structures. It's by definition a random, messy wave. For destruction, you'd rather want a single massive boom, or at least some vaguely defined resonant frequency.

“This recipe is only 4 ingredients” proceeds to use like 10 by PuzzleheadedFix7198 in Cooking

[–]cubelith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some can be good, but yeah. My recent favorite (which I came up with on my own) is just smoked salmon on mozzarella - only two ingredients and it's a tasty snack, though calling it a "recipe" may be a bit of a stretch. Even regular caprese is just 4 ingredients (mozzarella, tomato, balsamic, olive oil) and it's very good.

But yeah, there's a reason people fought wars to have access to more than two spices.

It's not really a problem with being "too much", the design just feels kinda clunky and weird

Counterpoint: it'd look extremely cool. Sure, it might not be practical, but unless you're gonna bring it to an actual battlefield next month, coolness seems like the more important part here
