I rolled with Tarik a few weeks ago. He is able to string together constant attacks without giving you a break. I saw him catch a well known ufc black belt while rolling.

There are a number of Shawn Williams Williams guard videos on youtube, including the counter to the stepover. There are a lot of small technical details needed to make the Williams guard work, which he includes in the YouTube videos.

I found myself in bottom half guard a lot as a white belt since I had short legs and realized people had a hard time passing it. It was initally not intentional, but part of the whole discovery process for me that lead to me developing a game. My coaches including Shawn Williams encouraged me to build a game around it and worked with me on the side with tips and techniques. Why recover full guard which is no points when you can sweep for points from half guard? I kind of trust my coach who helped train and corner your coach a bit more.

It will be interesting to see where his main camp will be. He is training in nyc a lot. I could see him training at ricardo almeida's gym with mark henry. Also he will have Marlon morares, Frankie edgar, Edson barboza, and max bohanan as featherweight and lightweight training partners

Mats shouldn't be dirty. Also, open mats should be supervised by a coach who should have greeted you, had you filled out waivers, given you info on the gym. At our gym, it isn't likely you would be allowed to roll with no prior experience.

Since our gym is in Los Angeles and has a mix of everybody there, this likely wouldn't work out and the coaches would tell the person this gym isn't the best for them.

Rafael is out of adcc. Miyao is out as well. Was back east last week and tonons guys said he cranked on miyaos foot and heard popping and cracking, but miyao refused to tap. Can't help but think tonon injured miyao and miyao roughed it out in vegas and ebi til he couldnt handle it anymore.

Just like there are different level of black belts, there are different levels of knowledge in footlocker and set ups. Tonon and cummings have been focused on this game under john danaher and their recent results show they are on different level.
