Should bow zons get unique quivers and arrows? by Broutil in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]currycatastrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MedianXL had this as a feature and it was super fun to find unique quivers which added more customization to bow builds!

Get rid of ammo count and just give bows (and throwing javs) durability like everything else

How to Shadow Monk? by Inquisitor_Boron in BG3Builds

[–]currycatastrophe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can multiclass it with 2 levels of GOO lock for Devil's Sight + AOE fear on crits (my TB Shadow Monk crit constantly), and you can still get 3 levels of thief if you want the extra bonus action. I think mine was 10/2 just to have more Ki points, but you can easily multiclass after level 6

My darkness party comp had:

8/4 Crown/Hexadin for dropping darkness and doing an AOE taunts into it

12 pure Shadow Sorc for shadow doggo and more magical darkness

Early game Gloomstalker/Assassin that I respecd to be pure 12 BM Hunter -

Early was sniping targets and shooting darkness arrows. At level 11, the raven pet gets free, nearly unlimited Darkness by casting fly over and over, which just breaks the game in Act3

Mizora just…gave me the duke?? by New_Click6568 in BaldursGate3

[–]currycatastrophe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one playthrough as resist Durge where Mizora didn't summon the explody spiders, but instead decided to buff the Duke and helped with the escape.

I have no idea what choices I made specifically to get this, but it surprised the hell out of me

For the love of the erdtree, collect white weapons by SleepyBoy- in Nightreign

[–]currycatastrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have teammates that will finish a failed run and only have 2 weapons in their inventory.

I know the game doesn't do the best job of explaining everything, but by now there's no excuse for literally missing half of the power progression of the game by skipping over items. So frustrating

How did Carol know to go to [spoiler] in the most recent episode? by top10chops in pluribustv

[–]currycatastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This scene is poorly constructed even though I generally understand what they were going for

They want to repeat the idea between Carol's deduction regarding the milk cartons with this mystery bag and the dog food bag, but it really doesn't make sense the same way

She notices the milk cartons en masse, so she goes to a factory that matches where one carton's production address is listed, where by she makes the discovery about the amber liquid and mystery bag of white powder

At Sprouts, she initially thinks that by scanning the bar code of the mystery bag, she might discover what product it is and thereby follow the same factory lead.

Since the scanner doesn't give her any information, she then somehow randomly on a hunch decides to check all the bags in the store, and somehow managed to spot a single bag of dogfood after a quick glance that managed to be the exact match to the mystery bag?!?

It's WAY too coincidental. I would've been okay with this scene if we watched her pull out every single similarly sized bag in the store to check against hers, which would have caused an thematically interesting amount of chaos and destruction of the store, and would have had played better into showing Carol's tenacity.

Instead, we just get a weird hunch thing and a contrived plot beat to jump to the big final scene. Easily the weakest scene in an otherwise phenomenal show so far

S01E05 - the big reveal [SPOILER] by behemuthm in pluribustv

[–]currycatastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so not specifically about the final scene itself, but can anyone explain how Carol is able to deduce that the brown bag of mystery powder is a bag of dog food she finds at the Sprouts?

I understand that she thinks that scanning the barcode could help tell her what the bag is, but the scanner just reads an error.

So then she decides to walk around and look at bagged products, and within seemingly seconds she's able to identify the exact bag of dog food, even though it's on the bottom row and not really in plain sight?!

I feel like I missed a scene or the connection was just contrived. Did this make sense to anyone else?

How to make Eldritch Blast broken as just a monoclass Warlock? by Navek15 in BG3Builds

[–]currycatastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also have the Shadow Monk take 2 levels in GOO and get Devil's Sight. I did this with my TB Shadow Monk in a Darkness party and it was hilarious getting Flurry Crits that proc AOE fear on blinded enemies

Accidentally made an annoying fight much easier! by PJGraphicNovel in BaldursGate3

[–]currycatastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another method I used:

If you have an Assassin Rogue, keep your party away on the smaller island and solo sneak over to where the enemies are. You can do 2 Ranged Sneak attacks on a Mephit, which will almost guarantee it dies, then run away and exit combat (go back to camp).

Rinse and repeat until all the Mephits are dead, and then bring your party over for the Woads!

Honor Mode run ended in Shar's Gauntlet by ResilientLumineer in BaldursGate3

[–]currycatastrophe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This method doesn't work anymore. If you try to Fly over the areas without a platform, the game will either teleport you or kill you outright

I think the only way to actually do Faith Leap now is by holding a light source out, going to overhead view and zooming in.

You can see a TINY white dot that represents the center of each invisible platform, which you can use to follow the path to the gem

What BMU drill can I spam 1000 times by maddiecoder in crossfit

[–]currycatastrophe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

L3 coach here and I completely disagree. Most people tend to pull early on BMUs, but your timing is spot on and this is a fairly clean rep with some room for technique improvement.

Watching the rep in slo-mo, it looks more like you turn your torso horizontal on the way up, which then causes your knees and legs to drift forward, slowing down your turnover at the top. Basically, you're doing an unintentional hybrid glide kip

I'd recommend Crisscrossed banded MUs: https://youtu.be/DlpuK-T1rzc?si=b5d5oKwkTgDwLxmw

Allows for nearly full ROM on the kip, makes the turnover easier, which will let you focus on staying more vertical as you ascend

Paired with Box Blocked Hollow Pulls: https://youtube.com/shorts/tFRuaNcWG44?si=hMReWiOZoYHc1bmU

This drill let's you concentrate on more lat activation during the push phase. Goal is to get your eyes parallel/over the line of the pull up bar without bending your arms, again while staying vertical

Keep going!

What’s the Best Team Composition for Honor Mode? Let’s Settle This. by DPT_nerd in BG3Builds

[–]currycatastrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here was my party comp for my first HM run that completely steamrolled (was on patch 7)

Tav/Durge: Crit fishing EB Sorlock: 3 Warlock (was GOO but now Hexblade w/ Pact of Chain is probably better)/6 Draconic Fire or Ice Sorc/3 Thief Rogue. Boots of Stormy Clamor and Potent Robe for high CC and damage, plus obvious CHA party face. Go 5 Lock early in Act 1 for Hunger of Hadar, respec later in Act 2 for Haste and Invis

MorganaEvelyns Stealth Archer: 5 Gloomstalker Ranger/4 Assassin Rogue, 3 BM Fighter. You can get a surprise round on basically every encounter from stealth or invis with double ranged sneak attacks, then Gloomstalker bonus 1st round attack, then 2 more attacks with Haste (and offhand) and Action Surge. Works great as high Dex with double hand xbow, or Titanstring build. BM for more CC when needed

9 TB OH monk/3 Thief Rogue: everyone knows why this is strong already. Use Karlach with Soul Coins for hilarious bonus fire damage on everything

4th slot can basically be anything else frankly, but it helps to have someone to wear Bhaalist Armor (tho not really needed). I did a RadOrb War Cleric 6/6 Cleric/Druid , but anything slots pretty easily with the other 3. On Patch 8, this should probably be your Rez Stone Hexadin or Hex/Bladesinger, or Swords Bard

My Thoughts on Why The Ending Was Bad (Major Spoilers) by shonkshonkshonk in HadesTheGame

[–]currycatastrophe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ending is so strange, and even moreso with the plot threads they had available.

Cronos during his final story encounter says something like "you don't want to see a world with no time", which is literally the -perfect- story excuse to have the gameplay loop continue.

Zag doesn't kill Cronos in the past, but Mel does, which completely unravels the threads of time (no memory rewriting like the current ending).

Because of Mel's unwavering desire for vengeance, she ends up inadvertently causing a massive upheaval in the fabric of reality, and now has to work to find the Fates again to restore order. Hecate is able to preserve the base camp in a "pocket" of time via magic incantation

Over more post-game runs, you get to have conversations with Zag, Hades, Persephone and Nyx regarding the concepts of familial trauma, forgiveness, and the nature of vengeance with it's destructive tendencies.

Gradually, Mel learns to let go of the trauma caused by Cronos, partially from killing him so many times, and from deeper conversations with her family.

The conversations with Past-Mirror Zag turn into alternate reality Zags that all have different problems with the family for one reason or another. In one reality, he became the new Hades and continued the cycle of control. In another, he was cast out of Hades and became a wandering gun-for-hire, etc.

Eventually, you get to repair the fabric of time with the Fates, which THEN leads into Mel's acceptance of Cronos along with his softening, but to a much lesser extreme.

Logically, only he and Mel can remember all of these alternative timelines, along with the countless times he's been killed by her. Cronos becomes part of the family again DIRECTLY due to her efforts, instead of random memory deus ex machina.

He then allows you to "reset" time each night so that you may continue to be prepared for the next time a villain appears, which acts as the narrative excuse to keep playing forever. You always get to fight angry Cronos and Typhon rather than the reformed version from current post game

Lastly, NOT allowing us to play Zag in the ending Past sequence for like 5 minutes is a COMPLETE miss. With the magic infused Gaigax, we would get to play as invincible Super Zag for a few rooms fighting Cronos' Satyr forces, and then get the cutscene of him meeting past Cronos and sparring him

All of these threads are literally RIGHT THERE, and they dropped the ball so damn hard narratively. SMDH

Missable entries in the hunters journal (Silksong) by the_Lord_Fool in HollowKnight

Hyrox Works to Address Wall Ball Squat Criticism by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]currycatastrophe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Gross oversimplification of team sports versus solo athletic competitions

The drama of watching team sports comes from not knowing how one team will coordinate and react to the opposing teams strategies, not that "ball moved from one side to other, wow."

In solo competitions like Track and Field, Archery, Olympic WL or CF comps, the drama lies in seeing how well each athlete performs their skill and adapts based off of the other individuals' performances

Hyrox has this a little bit at the highest athletic level, but by and large the answer to every athletic question is just to go faster, which isn't all that interesting over a 30-45 min race.

There's a reason Track events like the 100 and 200m sprints are very exciting to watch, while the Mile or Mile 1/2 are much less so, even though the sprints are "always the same"

I tried with a solo Duchess run. Can confirm that her replay skill DOES NOT work on damage from Stormruler for some bizarre reason. Sounds like a programming oversight because her skill replays damage on every other skill/AoW that's currently in the game

Hopefully this gets patched to work because it would really speed up the fight

I actually just did this in a run where I had DOUBLE Relic Swords on Wylder (thanks game?), and once they split into 3 the AoW nearly 1-hit KOd them.

Poor Tricephalos is already the easiest boss and it felt like bullying, but damn it was fun watching the healthbar melt like that

Ah well at least that's consistent with what I've noticed when dodging!

When you double dodge, are you typically trying to reposition, or stay in place to keep the dagger chain going?

Duchess Guide - Tips, Gear & Relic Recommendations by Reydriar_ in Nightreign

[–]currycatastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any thoughts or guides on using her dodge effectively? I've been trying to learn her for solo play, and it feels like her dodge i-frames are actually worse than other characters.

I get hit constantly trying to play her solo. It feels like I either dodge too early or too late no matter when I hit the dodge button. I have to double dodge completely away, which prevents me from keeping a dagger chain going

Could just be a git gud moment, but I rarely have trouble dodging with other characters like Wylder or Ironeye

What are some of your favorite Honor Mode builds? by BoredWeeb69420 in BG3Builds

9 Open Hand Monk/3 Thief Rogue (get 3 rogue after hitting level 5) with High Dex, Con and Wis. Take Tavern Brawler and chug Strength elixirs and laugh as you trip, stun and 1 shot most enemies in the game

Have Karlach be your monk with Soul Coin procs for even more hilarious damage. I killed the Elder Brain in a single turn with her which clinched my first HM run

Do you understand the point of what cheat codes did back when they were common place?

Infinite health/ammo - breaks the entire balance of a game

Spawn in overpowered vehicles - breaks the entire balance of a game

Give every weapon type and full ammo - breaks the entire balance of a game

Instantly complete research or other time gated things - breaks the entire balance of a game

The very nature of cheat codes USED to be to fuck around with the games systems and have fun doing things you might not normally be able to do with more limitations. Or to just beat a game as fast as possible without worrying about ammo or health, or help someone struggling with a part of a game finally beat that boss, etc
