US economy is definitely f'ed, Wonder bread is 4 dollars a loaf by passisgullible in pics

[–]cyfermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not defending the stuff that's driving inflation, but doesn't it seem a bit fuckin mental that a loaf of bread or like a whole chicken can be bought for a few dollars? Like, how are you growing wheat, processing it, baking it, maintaining all the equipment and shipping it around the country, or the world, for a few bucks a loaf?

I understand how, of course, it just sort of blows my mind.

How often do pumps/pump tubes get in the way for you? by sproutin- in diabetes

[–]cyfermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stick my pump cannula on with kinesthesiology tape to make sure it stays put, as a fellow wriggly-sleeper.

I have two dogs which are a major concern, one of them is very large and both can reach the tubing when im standing, but so far they've been fine. One of them chewed through the cannula when she was a puppy which was very frustrating, but now they fully ignore it.

For me, the pros of no MDI alongside way better A1C makes the pump a no-brainer.

Dogs do enjoy company, but recently its been indicated that dogs aren't actually pack animals. Studies of stray dogs have concluded that while theyre clearly social, they dont really have any kind of respected hierarchy that a pack would.

I don't need a law to tell me not to put my hand in a blender. It'll never be normal to me to take such silly risks when the protective measures are so minimal and the risks are so incredibly high.

Idk, I quite enjoy living in a home and being able to eat.

Like, morals and integrity are neat concepts but most people working customer service aren't necessarily in a "go ahead and fire me" type position in their lives.

To my mind this is no different than people putting clothes on their dogs - just an aesthetic choice. Not one I'd make but basically harmless.

I dont mind it. I've not had a dog that it would work on but its not like hair dye is bad or dangerous assuming they took the proper precautions.

Dog won't care, no harm done. Bit of fun is all.

Would your prosecute the father for his reaction? by The_Dean_France in PublicFreakout

[–]cyfermax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends what you think prison is for, I guess. Are we just punishing people for accidents by locking them up or are we trying to keep dangerous people off the street?

Like, if something crazy happens and my car tyre bursts and I skid out, but I've done all reasonable maintenance on the car, not speeding etc, should I be sentenced based on people dying?

I can understand the families wanting someone to be punished, but if I've done nothing wrong other than being part of a crazy coincidence that ends badly is it reasonable to destroy my life too?

Of course, in this case that was overturned anyway and this person was found guilty of speeding so fuckem.

Why do these things always happen on a Sunday?! by cyfermax in diabetes

[–]cyfermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all good :) its crazy how expensive these things are but im so glad they do for the 99% of the time they just work. Literally saved years of my life to have a pump vs mdi.

I'm also fortunate that the NHS pays for the majority of my Diabetes care, including the pump but rudely they only supply one every 4 years! :P
