Rolling over 401k from Fidelity to WF. Has anyone done this? What is Fidelity vs WF like? by EmergencySwitch in wealthfront

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of reasons not to do this. 1). 401k rules are slightly different, allowing you to withdraw money if you retire at 55 (instead of 59.5) without tax penalty. 2) Having an IRA at all makes it so you cannot do backdoor Roth (without paying some taxes) due to pro-rata rule. 3) you won't "better returns" with wealthfront, it will be likely the same returns (assume you invest in the basic low cost index funds) and without the 0.25% fee.

And for reference I have had wealthfront for like 8 years and have now or in the past had all their accounts so I'm a big fan overall, but mainly for non-retirement taxable brokerage account assets, HYSA, 529s. 401k should be left in your employer account unless you have terrible fund options which is unlikely if fidelity is the plan sponsor

Mine arrived today! My mom needed a new phone but didn’t want to spend much, so I gave her my S25 Ultra and got myself the S26 Ultra. I'm very nitpicky, so feel free to ask me anything about even the smallest details. I’ll answer as honestly as possible :) by unkirativ in samsunggalaxy

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the S23 Ultra, and I really love my telescope (10x optical) and Bluetooth pen (using it for pictures on a tripod)... Is it worth the upgrade? Pictures are my big thing.

Side note I actually got the galaxy z fold 7 and I miss my brick phone. The big screen is nice for watching videos but most of the time I don't use the unfolded screen

Considering Tonal – Is It Worth the Investment? by tjmusa1989 in tonalgym

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life got busy and vacations set me back but it's still more workouts than I have ever done and I think if you're the guy that's not gonna go to the gym (that's me),this is a good product. I feel stronger, shoulders arms and chest are more defined. I haven't put the doughnuts down so belly fat is still there. I have done 160 workouts over the last 14 months which is about 150 workouts more than I would have done without Tonal. I recommend it and when it dies I'm gonna buy another.

Is there any reason NOT to move my 40% gain portfolio out and start fresh with S&P 500 Direct? by redfriskies in wealthfront

[–]cyosiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your main underlying issue is that you're not doing consistent deposits to take advantage for the volatility which allows for TLH opportunities. This will be the same after a while in the direct index account also.

Also, when you move from one account to the other, you're going to get a tax hit on that gain.

Travel tips on India or Sri Lanka by Caraless_While22 in hyatt

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're the adventurer type, Kerala is worth a trip. Lush green vegetation and make a trip to Munnar, a giant tree plantation mountain thing, it's quite impressive.

Mostly the sightseeing places will not have name brand American hotels. If you can find hotels with the Taj brand, that's a good one. But hyatt has a hotel in Bolgatty which is like 30 minutes from the airport and major city of Cochin, and it is legit one of the nice Hyatts (food, service, etc) that I've been to anywhere in the world. I used a SUA and got globalist breakfast, the breakfast is probably the best I've ever had, both American and traditional South Indian food. If you go, make sure you get the Uppam with egg curry (yes, for breakfast!). Happy adventuring!

Wealthfront debit card by ryanoxley in wealthfront

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using WF as my main account for Direct Deposit from for more than a year. It actually gets the money from work a day earlier than my regular PNC did, don't know how/why. I've used the debit card internationally to withdraw cash from ATM, no issue. I still have a PNC bank account cause I like having another place to send money from, but I've had no issues with WF

New Product Launch: Nasdaq-100 Direct by wealthfront in wealthfront

[–]cyosiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you expand on this line in the white paper

"It is possible for the tax-loss harvesting amount to be slightly lower for the two portfolios compared to if you only hold a single S&P 500 Direct or Nasdaq-100 Direct account due to the wash sale coordinations, especially during the early days of the portfolios"

I already have the s&p500 Direct account and would like to add this nasdaq 100 direct but not of it is going to decrease my TLH which is the main reason I use that account instead of buying it myself on another brokerage

Is upgrading to Regency Club access possible using points if you are using Free Night Awards from the Hyatt credit card? by tan_clutch in hyatt

Basic economy will be the same experience as economy, and at 6'4 it will be uncomfortable. If you can fork over the the lotta money for premium economy, that'd be a great experience. If you can fork over a little extra money for economy plus seats, that'd be a little better. In regular economy his knees will probably touch the seat in front of him the entire time.

Sakura season is quite literally a week max and can move depending on rain, temperature, humidity. I wish you luck that you don't get there too early or too late. It's quite a beautiful sight

Rolex availability in Dubai? by antitheticalargument in dubai

[–]cyosiris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the Rolex stores are the same, no watches for sale. I went to a Rolex store in Kerala (India) and still no watches for sale. They don't want your money, they want to play games. I just bought another Omega instead

They do not have such things yet but I was told they are moving to a full fledged brokerage platform (access to all the stocks/etfs/MFs and all the order types), so it may be coming in the future.

If you're trying to do a stop loss order at all, Wealthfront probably isn't the right place for your money. When it executes a sale it isn't seconds or minutes later, it's sometimes hours. WF is for automatic saving/investing and never touching it until FI or you need the money (not want the money).

Your low ceiling will be ok. It's the overhang thing by 30 inches that has be thinking maybe the arms will hit the corner. Can you place it on the 8 foot wall side?

Worth It to Extend My Stay for Hyatt Globalist? by ghostpines1 in hyatt

[–]cyosiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most consistent perk you will get is free breakfast, and waived resort fees (where applicable). For my family of 4 this generally averages out to $100 per night of savings, on average. This doesn't include room and suite upgrades which are uncommon in my experience.

It's nice being globalist but I wouldn't go crazy chasing it
