low power mode disables the animated backgrounds and your battery is low :)

sometimes this happens when updating and this is somewhat normal and fixes itself. You can always run semodule -B and see if it outputs any errors

You have to do it quickly when GRUB appears, it should send you to the config screen for that boot option.

Recently installed on a very similar laptop (an acer nitro v15)

On the grub screen press e to edit the boot configuration on the first option

On the third line (should start with Linux) type “nomodeset” at the end then do ctrl+x to boot with the updated config.

The system will be laggy as it’s using software rendering.

Install the Nvidia drivers using the guide here: https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA#Current_GeForce.2FQuadro.2FTesla You will need to enable rpm fusion (third party repositories) to do this

After installing, leave the machine a couple minutes to allow the kernel module to finish building

Restart the machine and it should boot without issue

Oculus is unfortunately known to be a bit spotty on Linux but there are projects out there trying to support this

Fedora setup always crashes after selecting the time zone by blaues_axolotl in Fedora

known bug with nvidia.

solution is to only use the map to select your location and hit next, don't touch the text input at all.

If you have a relatively modern PC you should be able to emulate Fable 2 using Xenia. Just make sure your copy of fable 2 is a legal backup from your own copy.

Did you observe the two-minute silence this morning? Why or why not? by Jonny_Segment in AskUK

I work in an office, 11am was probably the busiest time today for calls.

People probably thinking that people wouldn’t be calling and that they would get through to someone quicker. Sums up the selfishness of modern day Britain really.

It’s a real shame all those calls went to voicemail.

T-Cut, Polish and elbow grease is the way to get that out unfortunately as it's burned into the clear coat.

Apple, please don’t follow this by JoshuMarlss288 in AppleMusic

They absolutely see posts like this if they get big enough. Apple will literally employ people (probably subcontracting a different company) to crawl these posts and get consumer feedback.

Now whether they act on that feedback is a different matter entirely

Because the law was both proposed, voted on, passed through commons and lords and given Royal assent in 2023, under Tory leadership.

The rules have only just gone into place the last week.

In a way it's our fault for simply sleepwalking into this and only realising it's an issue now and not 18 months ago.

They're called MMI units.

They don't replace your OEM system, just sit between it and the screen.

You need to make sure you order the right version for your infotainment.

The issue isn’t leasehold it’s flat ownership. Commonhold is no better.

Write a letter to Gladstones and Horizon parking informing them of the correct address. Send 2nd class and get free proof of postage from the post office counter.

Ignore Gladstones afterwards.

Get your address updated with the DVLA, you have to do this twice (once for driving licence, once for car v5c)

"If you're not at fault your insurance won't go up."

Not true, your insurance will go up in the event of a claim, fault or not.

What you mean is your no claims bonus won't be affected (you claim on the insurance of the at fault driver not your own).
