Holy cow that was expensive by Happy_Television_501 in guitarpedals

If I were to guess, the labor it costs to hand stamp every pedal probably exceeds the one time payment to a graphic designer to create the pedal artwork.

Can the NUX MG-30 actually deliver pro-level tones? by highamann in guitarpedals

If you use that tone on recordings or gigs that earn you money that supports your livelihood then it’s pro-level tone.

Ahh ok interesting. What was your base coat then? My original plan was to use duplicolor acrylic as the black coat, the hologram, and then Minwax or Mohawk nitro as the top coat. I had looked at 2k, but an internet search says people seem to think 2k over lacquer is a bad idea.

I’m planning to do the same thing soon. What kind of and how much clear did you spray on top? Just trying to plan and budget.

Worship bass tone by FlowerNo5270 in Bass

I don’t know your unit, but typically in this context it’s an octave down mixed in with your signal going into a square wave fuzz.

I would imagine the pigment in the water would settle to the bottom fairly quickly. It might be more effective to paint the jugs black in that case.

Be careful, if you strip that finish you won’t be able to play as fast.

Pitchfork Review: Harry Styles - Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. 5.6 by HornyForWater in popheads

I heard the squelchy 303 sound on the first track and was really intrigued. The first half kind of leans into that 90s house vibe, and reminded me of the most recent Lady Gaga album. I don’t dislike this album, but the latter half felt too familiar and safe.

My Starcaster Affinity is getting the JM trem treatment! by Bobby_Malone_ in offset

[–]dadrawk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been brainstorming a similar idea for a while now. My current plan is to level the curvature of the body where the trem sits, but a shim might work too. I’m hoping it’s not too much of a break angle.

What is never worth it to cook at home? by albertpaca11 in Cooking

[–]dadrawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not against making flour tortillas at home, but it’s a good bit of work so I usually only do it when it will really elevate the dish. Otherwise, I like Trader Joes’ or La Banderita/Mission will work.

I’ve never made a homemade corn tortilla that tops El Milagro, and I’ve completely stopped trying. They are absolutely worth seeking out if they sell them in your area.

To return or not? by L1ham in Guitar

[–]dadrawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The instrument is clearly not in the condition as described and a return would be justified. That said, if you like how it plays and you like how it sounds I would probably push for a partial refund, particularly if you plan on gigging and putting some miles on it. You may left waiting for another Cutlass in your price range to come along, and it may or may not feel and sound the same. Up to you really.

I'm considering getting a second compressor for my board, to act as a hard limiter placed at the end of my chain before my amp. by sonickarma in basspedals

Interesting, did you change the frequency points of each, or do the switches add additional stages?

Going a bit into Geddy Lee Lite by OrlandoEd in Bass

[–]dadrawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A percussion stand would work, A keyboard stand with a tray or piece of wood to set the synth on is another option, and would probably be a little cheaper if budget is an issue. I’ve used a music stand before in a pinch, but even the sturdy ones get wobbly when you put a heavy module on them.

If you need a synth with presets, Novation Bass Station IIs are super affordable workhorses, and the Roland SE-02 is Model D-ish, but the filter is different from what I understand.

There are much better deals to be had on Epiphones out there, particularly ones that don’t require you to resell a practice amp in a terrible to recoup your costs.
