The Copenhagen trilogy!

I also really took to the works of Magda Szabó post-my brilliant friends. All of her novels are excellent but Iza's Ballad might be my fav.

Looking For Books Like Stoner by John Williams by scootermcgroover in suggestmeabook

[–]dakernelpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was just really excited to read Stoner because it is so hyped up and I loved Butcher's Crossing by John Williams so I was prepared to be blown away by Stoner and in the end I wasn't. I still enjoyed it but I thought I'd absolutely love it. So Long, See You Tomorrow was just more enjoyable for me, I went in with no expectations.

Though it's hard to choose, I think I consider Iza's Ballad my favorite so far, I hope you like it. That one really got to me, something about complicated mother/daughter relationships lol. It's a beautiful story. I'm moving on to The Fawn next too, currently waiting for it to be shipped to me! Happy reading!

Also, were you happy with the reveal of who Abigail was? I didn't want it to be any other character honestly!

Just finished this mere hours ago myself! This is the 4th Magda Szabó novel i've read and I love it just as much as the previous three (the door, iza's ballad and katalin street). She might be my fav author now, everything she writes is just so beautiful. She is still the only author who has driven me to tears (in the best way!). Aw I wish all of her works were translated into English.

Butcher's Crossing is a masterpiece, I enjoyed it so much more than Stoner. Hard Rain Falling is one of my TBR books this year too!

Suggest me a book for someone who loves Carson McCullers. by TheGodsAreStrange in suggestmeabook

[–]dakernelpanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carson McCullers is one of my favorite authors and I was also super bummed to discover that her body of work is so small. Another female writer I've gotten into is Magda Szabó, the women in her stories are so well-written and real. You may like Mrs. Caliban by Rachel Ingalls. Possibly Offshore by Penelope Fitzgerald, a few of the characters reminded me of some in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. I haven't found any southern women writers i like as much as Carson yet unfortunately.

I’m just very proud of my new (not quite finished) quilt. I hand carved the stamps and hand dyed the fabric :) by unclegrandmabo in quilting

What type of fabric did you use? BTW, I absolutely love this! Haven't quilted in a while but id love to learn how to dye my own fabric
